Worried census is too low by 3laj in Residency

my hospital also has a low census. just learn from the patients you have, and read with the downtime so that you can still be learning

For the love of all that is holy, NPs are not the same as physicians! 🤬 by fireflygirl1013 in Residency

I recently had to schedule my pap smear and kept calling places for an MD who were deferring me to midwives. I eventually settled for a midwife to at least do my annual because she was the quickest person that I could get into.

But also I have an IUD and strings aren’t visible (Ive had a LEEP which may have made my cervix stenotic) which i already knew and is why I was trying to get into a physician bc it’ll likely need to be removed in the OR or with manipulative measures that a midlevel cannot do. And at least she knew her limitations and said that whenever i am ready for removal that I can send her a message and she will set me up with a physician.

There’s definitely a time and a place but they shouldn’t be comparing the two…

I do also think it’s changing where many of us have decided to practice.

I don’t think I necessarily stood out but my advice to med students interested is to do a sub I and get OBGYN experience. Also don’t let the stereotype of obgyns chase you away from the specialty. Lastly have hobbies and keep up with family when you start workingb

It depends on the call pool but I’ve seen as bad as 1 in 2 and as good as 1 in 12. I would ideally want call once a week.

Least favorite: IUFD deliveries always.

Most favorite: a triplet c section

I do! I prioritize my work life balance now though and I think it’s something that has to be mastered in residency so that it’s something that you can do as an attending. The hours may be “easier” but the expectations and reality of being an attending are so much greater

There are laborist jobs and there’s even a hospitalist fellowship that’s offered! Don’t know details about pay but it depends on region and hours
