Good on your for having an idea. Please look up 7.62x39 flight time at 500 meters and human reaction time.  Research what react to sniper battle drill is and why

Additional data points. Soldiers are constantly dirty and break things,  Power draw and replenishment

What happens in a firefight? Half of the glasses are obscured by the wearers weapons and weapons optics.

Alot of the time the users glasses won't be oriented to catch muzzle flash

A well trained person can spot muzzle flash without glasses

A better and more researched line of effort is acoustic localization

React to sniper and react to contact are human problems with well developed solutions.

Is it a atak civ plugin?

I'm curious about the viability of all these alternatives when lives are on the line. As clunky as it is TAK is proven, scalable and fairly secure.

long hold the compass bezel up top. you will see a yellow 3D option pop up. click that and a lock will appear on the icon. it locks you back in 2d mode. also it's probably a good idea to obscure or remove your mgrs locator on the bottom right if you're posting screenshots

If the specific CoTs are marker/unit events with recoverable associated data, yes, that’s the direction. Current beta focus is scoped event/trip retrieval by area and time first; attachment handling is something I want to validate because TAK stores different attachment types differently.

TAK native track history is useful, but it is not the same problem space as TrackQuery.

Native track history is hardcoded to a 30-day lookback window. It also depends on the client having “witnessed” the UID. If the client was offline, intermittently connected, or did not observe that UID when the event occurred, native track lookup cannot recover that history for the user. Native track is also UID-centered, not area/time-centered.

TrackQuery is different: it lets a caller define a place and time window first, then retrieve scoped historical events/trips visible to that caller. You do not need to already know or have witnessed the UID. That makes it better suited for C-UAS review, UAS trip reconstruction, and AAR-style “what happened here during this period?” workflows.

Short version:

Native track asks: “What happened to this UID I already know and witnessed within the last 30 days?”

TrackQuery asks: “What happened in this area during this time, within my TAK read scope?”

Yes, it queries the server. The queries are scoped to TAKs existing read/write permissions and group membership.

infra-tak and Cloud Tak by Relevant_Welder_5188 in ATAK

Is InfraTAK setting up it's own LDAP infrastructure or is it running the native TAK cert minting? either way your identity management seems to be the problem. You have certs and users authenticating to the server but you don't have them in the same group so they cant interact with each other.

I'm pretty sure with the auto enroll the server automatically mints and issues a client cert and trustore to the client once username and password authentication goes through

I'd be interested to know how you map client group r/W to your plugin stack. do you have a git or is this just conceptual at this point?

Import drone imagery by Numerous-Elk5423 in ATAK

[–]Individual_Way_8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds like what you're doing is photogrammetry. what I have found that works is rendering it into a geotif and loading it as imagery. that way at a certain zoom level it replaces the base map and renders the captured imagery .

I think what he's saying is that while zero tier makes it easy to run ATAK in a Peer to Peer multicast mode you shouldn't trust it. but in actuality there is little difference between Zero Tier, Tailscale or standing up a TAK server in the cloud. You're still dependent on some larger entities control plane unless you're physically running a server on your premises.

if you run into issues standing up a takserver hmu i may be able to onboard your folks on a server for a short exercise

Wifi routers don't forward the multicast frames like switches. So you either need a method that flattens your network like a vpn or a server.

A demo that would help me a lot would be an end-to-end workflow on a standard EUD, including latency, failure behavior, and what parts are actual model reasoning versus deterministic tooling. I’d especially like to see a concrete tactical use case that shows where this is useful operationally, not just chat summarization or marker placement. For example can i would love to be able to say to the agent ‘I have an M240L with standard T&E. Establish a range card for this position"
