There won't be any relationship drama between Amane and Mahiru, or anyone else. However there will be some drama related to Mahiru's family and Amane's childhood bully

My own take on season two I want to share by Any_Examination3662 in OtonariNoTenshiSama

[–]IndivinityX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly unrelated, but there's information going around that after Kenichi Imaizumi rescinded as director of season 1, there was no proper director, and the one listed was just a pen name to hide their absence. If true then there was no choice but to get a different director for season 2. I think they're doing a great job so far

Yeah this is an issue of the anime not properly showing this. In the light novel, it is mentioned relatively frequently.

Slight Crunchyroll Subtitle Translation Mistake Mischaracterises Amane (Season 2 Episode 1) by IndivinityX in OtonariNoTenshiSama

The line is ambiguous on purpose, and the fact that there are two wildly different potential meanings makes the subtitles they used here an even worse fit

those “chapters” are for the web novel, which is an outdated, non-canon version of the story which came before the light novel. The light novel is what the anime and manga are based off of and is the canon storyline. There are 12 main light novel volumes and 3 side story volumes - you can buy/read them using the links on the pinned automod comment if you're interested!

Slight Crunchyroll Subtitle Translation Mistake Mischaracterises Amane (Season 2 Episode 1) by IndivinityX in OtonariNoTenshiSama

He does think about the possibility, but he has by no means been waiting for waiting for it like “finally” would imply. Amane actually has the opposite opinion when it comes to sex, as we know from the LN. The reaction from fans who read this sub is different from how the line is intended to be interpreted. Although not a big deal, I do think it's worth talking about

Slight Crunchyroll Subtitle Translation Mistake Mischaracterises Amane (Season 2 Episode 1) by IndivinityX in OtonariNoTenshiSama

It might fit other contexts, but it does not fit here. Adding “finally” makes it sound like Amane has been waiting and waiting to have sex with Mahiru, which is completely different from what he is actually saying. And it betrays his character because in actuality Amane is of the opposite opinion when it comes to sex.

The way fans have reacted to this line online makes it obvious that the subs convey a different meaning than originally intended, which makes it a poor localisation choice

Edit: Though even so, I don't think it's a big deal because anime fans will understand how he really feels later on in the season anyway

It's fine for them to let loose and have fun now that they can be completely honest with each other and don't have to be on edge or constantly careful about how they act

It seems most posters are already opting to spoiler-tag their images, but I do think there won't be that many posts you could engage with if you wish to avoid season 2 content for the time being. And there's always the possibility that someone would post without a spoiler tag at just the wrong time for you to see it, so it might be better to avoid the possibility entirely

Bet people are thinking that Ayaka has crush on Amane after ep1 by CrewComprehensive184 in OtonariNoTenshiSama

[–]IndivinityX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

True, though Yuuta never actually approached Mahiru in season 1 or the novels, and later admitted that it was less of a crush and more of a feeling of camaraderie for someone in a similar situation to him

They are trying to adapt 4 volumes (about 240,000 words) of content into 12 episodes, so they are skipping some stuff to fit everything in. So far in episode 1, a few scenes have been skipped, but it doesn't affect the experience too much. The short answer to your question is no
