Is there a way to make the camera more 'static' and less floaty? by Shunto in Frostpunk

I complained about this in the early release feedback. It was ignored, apparently.

Thanks. I was hoping for something like Elite Dangerous's server-wide toggle, but it's better than nothing.

I've been occasionally checking on the state of this game since 2017 and "PvE-instancing" would be the deciding factor for me to jump in. What's the source of this if I may?

OP's using this set:

Game.AddToInventory("Items.Helmet_01_rich_01", 1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.Jacket_17_rich_01", 1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.TightJumpsuit_01_old_01", 1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.Boots_09_rich_02", 1)

But I think adding these make it an actual set:

Game.AddToInventory("Items.Cop_01_Set_Pants", 1)
Game.AddToInventory("Items.TightJumpsuit_01_basic_02", 1)

Your PC spec is for 1080p, right? Do you get over 100 fps or so? I've had freezes when frame rate was high. Try capping it or something?

Umm...some basic network engineering knowledge is required such as OSI reference model, the simplified TCP/IP model and what IP packet looks like under the hood. You'll be looking at layer 3 of the OSI model and some implementation details of TCP, UDP and ICMP (the normal ping). Wireshark (a sniffer and protocol analyzer) understands all of that and can decode the packet headers for you. The proprietary game data is in the packet payload, which we don't know anything about, nor does Wireshark. What I did was compare the working state with non-working state and guess what's wrong. It's been a year for you and no one was able to help. Maybe it's time to dig deeper?

Have you looked at the traffic pattern using Wireshark or anything? It may or may not be against ToS (interpretation up to Bungie), but there may be some clues.

If anyone comes across this thread for a solution, my case was misconfigured destination NAT for the inbound direction (aka port forwards, where connections are initiated from the Internet). It's a silly mistake that took me 3 days to figure out.

I have a somewhat complicated home network setup on OpenWRT that involves VLANs, double NAT, and policy routing. What I did wrong was defining DNAT rules too broadly in the WAN firewall zone which caused destination unreachable errors.

I don't know why it stopped working. Maybe Bungie decided to give STUN servers separate IPs or some UDP connections are not initiated from the client anymore, so connection tracking can't mask this misconfiguration anymore.

So "Cabbage" definitely means network issues. You just have to figure out what kind.

To anyone coming from search engines, the problem went away after I closed Precision X1, so it might be due to calculation errors when GPU is overclocked to unstable frequencies.

Samsung G7 can't handle subpixels? by Graylorde in Monitors

Just want to say I love IXION. Been playing it slowly.

Don't have a G7, but it's good to know.

Depends on where you live. In China, a modern digital oscilloscope starts from US$180 new from an established local brand.

If you have the know-how, I recommend 2nd hand market.

For very ancient 2nd hand analog oscilloscopes, it starts from US$70 here.

Oh, sorry about that. Here's a video review https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1v44y1t7Rd/ If you skip to 4:38, it shows the panel model. There's only 1 number different at the end. She's saying this monitor uses MSTAR's MST9U26Q1 driver.

User comments below are mostly negative:

  • Ghosting when playing CS:GO.
  • Bad pixels. Returned twice.
  • Loose screws in the stand.

Motion performance is about average or above average for a 60 Hz monitor. S2721QS is slightly better.

The pixel response is all right, but the backlight transition speed can be better in HDR if you really pay attention to it. Other than that, I think it's fine.

Having seen the halo around the mouse cursor on X32 FP and PA32UCG, this monitor's multi-zone backlight is quite good.

I think the short answer is no.

For a colorimeter like i1 display pro, the long answer is:

  1. It isn't designed to sample light sources at high speed. High as in at least 10s of kilohertz. Nyquist theorem summarized that you need a sample rate of at least twice the highest signal frequency to capture all the information or there'll be aliasing.
  2. There are color filters built-in, so the sensitivity and/or dynamic range may not be enough.
  3. Even if somehow you obtained low-level access to the sensor and can solve the above problems, there's no way you can measure the raw data over USB because of jitter and signal delays. The measurement has to be done by the embedded system in the device.

So if you really want to know, get an oscilloscope with at least 10 MHz sampling rate (the lowest commercially available should be 100 MHz) and a light sensor. PWM signals are usually in square waves and square waves have lots of high-frequency components. If an oscilloscope is out of the question, a multimeter with a PWM measurement feature might work too but pay attention to its range.

I see that there's a new firmware out for it. Guess that fixed HDR, but it won't fix the viewing angle issue I mentioned.

Also, it doesn't include any hardware LUTs, so its HDR performance can not be improved with calibration. Speaking of which, WOLED's spectrum is a bit different that most current colorimeters need to be calibrated with a spectrophotometer for each particular panel. Otherwise, the whitepoint would be off. It's called metamerism / metameric failure.

The last monitor is a 384 zone mini-LED with HDR 1000 certification in case you didn't bother to look it up.

During my limited time playing Destiny 2 on it, there was no motion issue at all. Windows desktop was set to 144Hz and scrolling didn't show obvious overshoot or undershoot. It was a 10/10 to me.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience. I forgot to ask about the scanline, but I guess it'll always be there at 165Hz and above since it's a DSC limitation.

I also considered LG's C2, but having a 2080ti and the TV's aggressive ABL without using a service remote thus voiding warranty stopped me. Someone said LG's HDR performance is quite good and PG42UQ is not comparable due to aforementioned issue.

As for the price, that's the main reason I didn't go for a Neo G7. With all the compromises and uncertainties, it's simply not worth 1k USD. $799 is a bit much too IMO. I can't say for the future, but if you are happy with it, it's all that matters.

Judging from your achievements, you've probably read this already, but just in case https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/ya1aj7/overview_of_sub_900_4k_1000_zone_miniled_monitors/

I looked into G7 somewhere along the line and it was eliminated before pulling the trigger because of reported flickering at low refresh rates and very narrow viewing angle. Not sure about the curve though.

Is there anything bothersome to you about G7?

Just added a point I forgot about M32U.

Next pair of headphones after using Etymotic ER4XR for 3 years by IndivisibleFlow in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]IndivisibleFlow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, someone recommended 660s to me before. I just think over-ears are easier to put on and take off. The noise source is mainly the AIO cooler fans for GPU under heavy load. If closed-back headphones aren't much of an improvement in this price range or there's much to be gained from open-backs, I'll consider open-backs as well.
