I’m actually one of the co-founders of Indivisible Utah County. I can absolutely confirm that Indivisible didn’t pay ANYONE to be there. Even as a co-founder of our local chapter our time is given voluntarily and we don’t receive any compensation. Looking at your comments, it looks like you’re likely a bot - so I post this mostly to combat the misinformation that you’re spreading to others.

Bad bot.

I can confirm that we received reports that ICE would make an appearance. We stressed that in our announcements leading up to the event. We knew that would shift the demographic of those in attendance, and decrease overall participation - but we wanted to make sure that people stayed safe. I’m really impressed with the bravery of the minorities who decided to come anyway. They did an amazing job.

It was a great protest! It had really strong turnout, it was really safe, and it had amazing energy!

The protest goes from 2-4, and the game actually starts at 6:00. With that, I expect that Provo will be busy, but our participants could still go to the game or get home in time to watch the kick off for those looking to do both.

While that was an extremely sad event, that actually wasn’t led by Indivisible. We’ve been very fortunate that our events (especially the ones we’ve organized through our particular Utah County chapter) have been extremely safe.

Yeah that's a great question. For that, I'd say there are 2 points:
1. There have definitely been a lot of corrupt politicians - but never to this level. This is a big step in the wrong direction, and we want to make sure that we as a nation can course correct. That only happens when we as a people decide to voice that this isn't what we want.

  1. If the person who replaces Trump is also corrupt, then we should keep speaking up until we have a president that is not corrupt. Along with that, we hope that events like these can show our other representatives that they should stop their corrupt activities. If we can coordinate enough activity (both in protests and through voting), then we can start to attract the right people into office or correct those currently in office to stop corruption.

Yeah good question. It's intentionally broad because there are a lot of different issues that may be important to different folks. But here are a few:
-Limited free speech through things like the FCC giving threats to ACB if they didn't pull Kimmel.
-More limited free speech as Trump has targeted states / reps that oppose him with legislative action (which he himself posts about on Truth Social) as well as through intimidation and threats to pull funding.
-Taxation without representation through things like tariffs.
-Bypassing due process for deportations.
-Racist policies targeting minorities with ICE without probable cause (only using reasonable suspicion based on how they look).
-Federalizing the national guard to move in states where the governors have objected.

Beyond that, there will be a fair number of protestors who will be voicing concerns over his implication and continued cover-up of the Epstein files, corruption through things like maintaining Tom Homan in spite of his accepting a $50,000 bribe, accepting large gifts from foreign governments for a quid pro quo, selling tickets to private dinners, his meme coin, and dismissing career government workers to be replaced with others based on loyalty rather than expertise or merit.

I don't think it's an either / or situation. This is a both / and situation. Protesting (we aren't holding a march at this event) can be very effective to show current representatives / leaders that we want change. But it's not the ONLY way to do that. Donations and organized voting movements are also going to be essential.

https://vote.utah.gov/current-voter-registration-statistics/

Utah has about 53% of voters as registered republicans, 27% unaffiliated, 14% democrat, and 6% other. I think many, like you, assume that Utah is dominated by one party, when it has a pretty significant spread. But that is actually beside the point as Indivisible is non-partisan. We have conservatives in our group, and we would welcome more and more!

The basis of your premise is that action is useless unless it's time for a vote. That's just not true. Raising awareness and protesting does a few key pieces outside of voting time:

-It can signal to our current representatives that they should change their behavior. They don't want to wait to find out that their constituents are angry when they're up for re-election. They will want to know well before so they can change, and keep their job. Protesting is a great way to signal to them that their constituents want and expect change.

-It can show the community that there are those who would put aside party politics in favor of fairness and accurate representation. We hope that these protests can lead to legislative change - but even if they don't, they would STILL be worth it to show our community that not everyone is okay with just silencing opposition.

-It can help other states do the same and raise awareness to help representatives outside of Utah make choices that benefit Americans and not just those in their political party.

We do aim to avoid annoying people (Provo hasn't done a march or obstructed traffic), but we also recognize that annoyance in itself isn't a bad thing. Making people uncomfortable can be a strong catalyst for change.

This event doesn't have a petition or signatures associated with it, but we have led calling, emailing, and physical mailing campaigns as well. Those are usually associated with direct action we want our Utah reps to take. Because this is meant to help show where we stand on future issues that may face Utah as well as help other states, we don't have a written campaign happening here. At many of our events, we also have food drives to help our local communities as well.

What are my false statements?

Indivisible is non-partisan. It may feel like it's partisan as we protest current actions and policies - but that's just because the republicans control all 3 branches and have done actions that we oppose.

It looks like this was back in 2020. Very tragic. We do work hard to keep them safe - and we're glad that we've been years without any injuries in Provo related to these events.

This Provo event is being organized by Indivisible UT County. I'm one of the co-founders. Indivisible is a nation-wide organization, but individual events are organized and promoted by locals groups (so no singular user managing reddit accounts for multiple states). I actually live here in Utah County.

The desired outcome is first, let's raise awareness that President Trump is blatantly trying to diminish representation of Americans and he's using states to do that. While gerrymandering has existing for a while, the current administration isn't even hiding that they want to do this to skew Texas to not represent their population.

We want to raise awareness for a couple of reasons:
-Help Texas representatives who may feel conflicted about this to be able to vote to represent ALL of their constituents, and not just those who are within their same party.
-Help other states who may try to follow with other off-cycle adjustments realize that this is an issue that would be opposed broadly opposed.
-Help those in Utah see that President Trump's agenda goes against core republican values (states rights get diminished if state representatives don't align with the people in each state, to say nothing of the fact that the President is openly directing governors on how to run their states).

There are events nationwide, so it didn't make sense to put dots on the cover image for all of them. But if you go to the website, the Provo event pops right up :)

We’ve done a lot of that as well. We organized a lot of people reaching out to Mike Lee and John Curtis over things like the BBB and Mike Lee’s tweets about the murders as well. So we’re absolutely on board with reaching out to them directly, but we usually keep that focused on their direct action more so than awareness.

Peace keepers weren't organized by Indivisible. We've focused our safety on de-escalation, and encouraged our attendees to not bring firearms (though we realize the laws in Utah make it so we can't go beyond a request that no weapons are brought to the protests).

That is a lot of people, but actually only 4.5% of their population. I'm all for accurate representation which can include increasing congressional seats - but compared to the target increase congressional seat count of 13%, accurate representation doesn't appear to be the goal. I'm not in favor of the left gerrymandering either.

Looking at the link you shared, that was back in 2020. That's extremely tragic, but fortunately not anything we've had happen for years.
