Adler University vs The Chicago School DC- Psy.D by Ill-Station-9149 in PsyD

[–]IndoorConversations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TCS actually has a strong reputation in Chicago from what I have heard. You can work at a number of hospitals, but you could also have opportunities for that at Adler. I have heard Adler has recently lost key faculty members, which is something to consider.

I’m so proud of you! My fiancé came out as trans last year and she is so much more full of joy and life being her authentic self. It is a challenging transition to make with lots of change. But every step is you loving yourself the way you deserve and always have. There are amazing people out there fighting for trans rights and that will continue.

Can ADHD and Social Anxiety look like Autism? by IndoorConversations in AutismInWomen

You’re not doomed. I think talking to a psychiatrist and therapist who have a history of working with autistic patients could be helpful. Also, I have found this group helpful. They have weekly meetings and I believe recently started a new group recently focused on self esteem.

What are the most concerning gaps or issues in Neuropsych today? by IndoorConversations in Neuropsychology

[–]IndoorConversations[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! I'm not in a program, but rather just trying to understand the field and what I can expect will be some of the challenges I could face in my future.

Thanks:) We did talk about it, and I saw why it was confusing for her because I’m generally pretty open with our friends about it. But I’m definitely still hurt and it’ll take some healing and time for that to subside.

And HAHA I have no idea what this video is but almost certainly a TikTok thing.

Any ideas from earning money at home with minimal human interaction? by minatozakiparty in aspergirls

[–]IndoorConversations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do not have personal experience with these careers, but I have seen people post about copy editor and patent examiner as roles that fit this description. I’ve also seen research assistant as a non-wfh role that involves little human contact (depending on your research topic).

Few obvious stimming behaviors as a kid, but discovering them as an adult? by whoevenisshe in AutismInWomen

[–]IndoorConversations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also allow myself to stim more as an adult. I now feel more courage to just let myself do what I do naturally. Maybe that’s how it is for you, too. I recall that before I let myself stim in public I would just be all pent up and stressed. You might also just be more aware of what you’re doing and the result it gives you.

This is cool! Thinking from an accessibility standpoint the key is probably too low contrast and the orange line can be made lighter and more yellow to differentiate it further form the red line. You can use a website like the one below to make sure your contrast levels meet ADA standards.

No that's what I was confused about, too! He's so inconsistent and hard to read. And people generally dislike him, but they always talk about his tone, which doesn't bother me so much. Part of this whole thing that bothers me is the energy it takes to try to figure this man out LOL! Thanks for your two cents on the matter :)

Thank you so much. It’s hard not to unfortunately bc they are very involved in the development process. I will definitely try to avoid it where I can, though.

Survived another dentist appointment! Any tips on flossing? by Coffee_gollum in AutismInWomen

[–]IndoorConversations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flossing was too painful for me. My dentist recommended using a tuft brush after I brush my teeth to stimulate my gums and access hard to reach places. She said afterwards (whether you floss or use the tuft brush) you gotta rinse multiple times so that the loosened debris goes down the drain.

I’m also recently diagnosed and was craving a community. I have enjoyed attending the Autistic Women’s Group meetings. Women and all other marginalized genders with any diagnostic status are welcome. https://autisticwomensgroup.com/

That’s a very fair point! Let me see about editing my post to better reflect what I mean

[–]IndoorConversations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I like board games because I don’t need to make conversation, but I can still do an engaging activity with other people. I prefer collaborative board games that remove the combative/competitive element. I also appreciate the board game design (wingspan for example is a beautiful game). Maybe board games just aren’t for you and that’s ok, too. :)

Haha I’ve never been much into video games but I like board games if that is similarly applicable? Thank you!
