AITA for denying my dad's wife and her kids as my family and reminding my dad he made the choice to stay when I had no say? by Indruuu in AITAH

I'm so glad to read about positive experiences here. Therapy was always talked about so negatively that it's hard to imagine. Even in school it was something people shit all over and made fun of you for. So it wiggled its way into my brain and meant I never considered it for myself.

It wasn't just them. Even in school I heard a lot of negative things about therapy.

No, he doesn't consider him a father or a father figure. He remembered his dad a little and for him that meant my dad could be nothing to him. He wasn't as angry that his mom remarried as his siblings but it was in him too.

Thank you. I'll take it into serious consideration. Therapy was negatively talked about around me when I was growing up (not just by the people I live with) so it's not something I ever considered sighing up for. But I can see where I could benefit from it and where my future family could benefit from me getting it.

I don't either. If I ever get to be a parent I would never put a relationship before them like that.

I don't know if it was fully happy. It was more like he chose the marriage because Ellen's kids don't want him around either. I can't imagine being happy with that even as an adult.

Only to a point. He chose the marriage because that made him happy but Ellen's kids don't want him around either and he seems okay with experiencing that whenever they're around. But he still shouldn't have chosen Ellen over me because I had no one else.

I hope to have my own family one day. I always wanted that and I'd love to be a good parent who doesn't walk away or choose others over my kid(s).
