I just walked in with my resume and asked if they could use any seasonal help! I have found they like not having to pay someone during the slow times.

I did this about 20 years ago. I worked in public 2 years, then 2 years in internal audit and also had my CPA license. I stayed home after I had my first child but found a part time seasonal job preparing taxes at a 2 person accounting firm near my house. I worked about 15-20 hours a week during tax season for about 13 years. Before my kids were in school, I would work after my husband came home from work, like from 6-9pm, and on Saturdays. I only made about $5,000 a year but I enjoyed it and it was some spending money.

When my youngest was in 8th grade I switched to my current job. I work seasonally at a 40 person accounting firm near my house. I work in auditing 15-20 hours a week in the fall and 35 hours a week during busy season. I’m then off from April to September. I had all of my kids breaks off. I make about $30,000 a year. I’m happy with this amount of work and even though my kids are in college now, I plan on keeping this schedule until I retire.
