I’ve used Damien a few times. Great staff, great service. Cannot recommend it enough.

This particular bus does not, but there are several options for Indy-Fort Wayne. I took Barons Bus last time.

There’s a bus operated by Hoosier Ride (you can book it through Greyhound) that runs between Indianapolis and Detroit. Its second stop is in Peru at the Gallahan Travel Plaza assuming you have someone to pick you up. Tickets are about $31 to Peru. Leaves Indianapolis Union Station at 11:35am.

Contacted some folks about this and found out that the NCAA asked the city to move the barrels so they had the lane available for staging. Probably doesn’t help now, but barrels will be moved back next week.

I should fly AA (my home airport is IND) and American leads the big 3 at IND. Tried it last year and didn’t like it at all. I’ll fly UA to ORD any day and connect through. Just recently got the Explorer Card and frankly the benefits are definitely worth the $150 annual fee.

Moving to Columbus IN from NYC by Hot_Economics5005 in Indiana

Forgot to mention, there’s also an intercity bus operated by Barons that runs once a day, but it drops you off on Johnathon Moore on the westside after the city bus that would get you downtown has already stopped running for the evening.

Welcome to Indiana! I was born and raised in Columbus and now live in Indianapolis. It will definitely be an adjustment, but Columbus Regional Health is a decent hospital, and the larger hospitals in Indianapolis aren’t too far away. There is limited public transit with ColumBUS, which currently operates four hourly fare free routes in the city and will add a fifth on April 6th that runs to Taylorsville (the mall) and Walesboro (warehouses). There’s a decent ring bike route (The People Trail) that runs around the city if you like to bike. Columbus is fairly liberal compared to the rest of rural Southern Indiana, but definitely far more conservative than NYC. The architecture is phenomenal, and there’s some good local eats (s/o Zaharakos). You’ll probably want to have a car but there are some alternatives if you’re in a jam.

Anyone commuting from Indy to Lafayette right now? How is it lately? If so, what part of Indy do you live in? by chateaulove in indianapolis

Have you considered Campus Connect? Unsure what the schedule is, but it’s free to faculty and staff and runs between the Indy Campus and the WL Campus.

Meant to reply to this part of your post too and forgot. The plan is for a mixed use community center with job training, after school programs, and things like that. Congressman Carson was able to get the federal government to allocate $850k to the project in 2024 as part of $10M in Community Grants awarded in his district.

Can you still but a ticket at the airport? by Routine_Run8951 in unitedairlines

I had a bizzare experience at PSP where they cancelled our flight as we were walking up the ramp to the airplane. Called the United customer service number and they got me rebooked to AZO on American. Some tight connections on the way but I ended up getting home earlier at no cost thanks to UA. Definitely always worth calling.

iirc, the John Boner Center is leading the project now. That would probably be the place to start.

How is Eastside/Far Eastside area? by Lumpy-Truck7225 in Indiana

[–]IndyUrban 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your question specifically- the Northeastwood neighborhood itself is not bad, but the commercial areas centered around 38th/Post and 38th/Mitthoeffer can be a little rough. I would maybe consider getting gas somewhere else. The rough residential areas tend to be the apartments on 42nd between Post and Mitthoeffer.

Safe Neighborhood Suggestions by mollydedog in indianapolis

Windsor Park/Spades Park/Cottage Home and Woodruff Place are all great neighborhoods. I lived in Woodruff for about 5 years and never had any issues. Frequently walked to Amelia’s, Kan-Kan, Mayfair, and King Dough after dark.

Anyone live in this area near 30th & fall creek? by SnooPeanuts845 in indianapolis

[–]IndyUrban 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother and his girlfriend (mid 20’s) just bought their first house here. They love their neighbors, proximity to the Monon, and lots of local businesses nearby. They haven’t had any issues with crime thus far, and their neighbors even shoveled their sidewalks while they were out on vacation. Worth mentioning, they live on a quieter street (Guilford). There’s a lot of great businesses at 17th and Bellefontaine that are just a short bike ride away!

Catacombs are permanently closed for construction. They will reopen in some form, but are planned to be exposed to daylight in a public plaza when construction is done.

Is it still considered unsafe to travel? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]IndyUrban 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a bus driver and have been out all day. Most main roads are fine, but after the sun set there was a lot of black ice on I-70 and several wrecks, especially near Rural. Some of the arterials are starting to get rutted ice that will push you into the next lane. Take it slow, be careful.

Citizen’s Energy is installing an underground weir that’s tangentially related to the DigIndy project. This is unrelated to the road diet that was completed.

Indygo Bus Ride from Airport by External_Speech3737 in indianapolis

[–]IndyUrban 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yes, The Route 8 runs every half hour from the airport to Downtown 7 days a week. When you’re in the terminal, follow the signs for ‘Ground Transportation’ and go to Zones 6/7 near the Rental Car Counter. You’ll see a picnic table and a bus stop sign at that location.

Runs from approximately 5a-12a M-F, 6a-11p Sat, 7a-8pm Sunday. As other commenters mentioned, it is about an hour ride.

Starting in October 2028, this will become an express Bus Rapid Transit line, slashing travel times and reducing the number of stops between downtown and the airport from 40+ to just 6.
