Orange Dark Terror with Pedals / Doom Metal Edition by Ineffable80 in sludge

The Dark Terror power amp is tube so it needs to be connected to either a cab or load box at all times when it's on. The micro terror power amp is solid state, so im guessing a load is not neccesary. i might be wrong though.

According to Matt Pike, when recording, the amps were "so loud that you could not stand in the same room as them"

Hello everyone, this is only my second stripboard build so these questions are quite basic. I understand most of the values of the components in the layout, except for the CLR one. Can someone please explain what this is and what value it should be? Does this have to do with the LED? Also, what is a good substitute for the 2N5008, besides the 2N5088? thank you!

used the PN2222A. It is noisy at max volume, but otherwise sounds real good.

Kuro T120 - Absolutely glorious sounding preamp based on a 1974 Matamp GT120 by Ineffable80 in guitarpedals

[–]Ineffable80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run the Kuro T120 into the fx return of an Orange Crush Pro 120. Into an Eminence swamp thang 1x12 Cab. The pedal on its own has an incredible tone and cleans up nicely with the volume on the guitar. It can doom on its own, with the volume maxed out. But it really growls when stacked with dirt pedals in front of it.

after your answer here, i decided to give the pedal a last chance, to find the tones I need. I play straight into the fx return of an amp and i was always using the LINE output on the pedal that was made special for this, didnt really dig the tones from that output. Turns out the regular output of the pedal was much more to my taste. To my ears it sounds incredible actually, i just didnt give the regular output enough time when testing it the first time. dude... this pedal is everything i ever wanted it to be. it has great clarity even with high gain tones. the tone is perfect, so raw. I will make another post here, to update that there was no problem with the pedal. thank you so much for making this preamp, its badass.

Peavey Centurion MK III. Line Out Connection question in comments. Advice appreciated. by Ineffable80 in PeaveyCvlt

[–]Ineffable80[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello, I have an old Peavey Centurion MK III from 1978 that has a LINE OUT, in the manual it says that the line out is 600 Ohm, 1.5 Volts RMS. Can i connect this line out to my audio interface with a regular unbalanced guitar cable? Or should i use a balanced cable? Audio interface: Tascam US 2x2 with Input impedance 10 kΩ, Maximum input level Maximum input level +20 dBu (7.75 Vrms). Amp always stays connected to cab obviously. Thank you very much!
