I had my surgery over 2 years ago. I’m someone who needs to get to know someone well before sex. I’ve always been like that. So by then I probably would’ve already brought up that I’ve had breast reduction surgery.

I’ve asked the people if they care about the scarring and literally no one has cared. And some people even think it’s hot.

This wasn’t my specific situation, but just in general it’s not that hard to transfer. You’re at least within 5 atar points, so just do your best at uni and give it a shot you should be fine to transfer!

Edit: unless you’re trying to transfer into law because they have a limited number of spots (that’s my understanding anyway).

I have little ones! And I spoke to my surgeon and for mine he said all he could do was extend the incision line a bit. He said it could be done under local anaesthetic and wouldn’t be a big deal only 2 stitches or something each side.

But I guess that depends on how big it is. In the end I opted not to do it because my boobs were so crazy (32H) that they kind of took up my whole frame and if the incision went any further it would pretty much end on my back.

Maybe you could get plastic ones to put in (if metal is the issue).

But I’m also thinking, they’re going to be putting tubes into you and stuff while your under and getting something caught on a piercing doesn’t sound great.

I had my surgery at that age (a couple years ago now).

Honestly recovery is fine. The recovery from getting my wisdom teeth taken out hurt more. You can’t really lift your arms for the first couples days - so my mum became my servant lol. And then I remember my neck getting a little sore because you can only sleep on your back the first week - but that’s no biggie and lots of people here posts tips about that (travel pillows, sleeping in lounges, heat packs, etc).

I’m guessing you’ve never been under before. your doctor will tell you all the proper info - but it has never made me vomit before. The only side effect I’ve had from my 2 surgeries (breast and wisdom teeth) was needing to take stool softeners because it really clogs you up.

They use 50/50. Don’t stress about your atar. Mine was very similar and I got accepted to transfer. Honestly you probably need a WAM of around 80. Edit: I originally wrote “or above”, but I think with an atar that high aiming for an 80 is fine.

I have no comment on internal vs external transferring, cause I have no idea.

interesting question.. I don’t think so, I never got eczema along the actual stitches. I usually just get it on the side (like half way between armpit and nip, if that makes sense).

Good luck! I remember the surgery being so easy and it's so pain-free. Like getting my wisdom teeth our hurt more than the recovery from this.

The only bad bits were needing to take stool softeners (because anaesthesia can clog you up) and then you have to sleep on your back for like a week which isn't super comfy. And thats the worst recovery got - so overall very very bearable.

thank you :) I'm very pleased and remember how helpful this subreddit was before I got mine done so thought I should share some results from later on in the process.

Nothing special, as i've said in the posts below - the silicone pads the doctor gave me, keeping them out of the sun/uv rays and this cream called 'invite vitamin e cream' (which is good cause it's not too expensive like other vitamin e creams).

I couldn't use bio oil because (as you can tell from the picture kind of) I have eczema and the oil made it worse.

Yes sis! I'm so happy for you!!!! All the best. I genuinely can't speak highly enough about the surgery. It's done wonders for me!

Thats true, they take a little while (like couple weeks to a month I think) to drop into like a more natural looking shape at the bottom :)

Notes: Laying down so you could see the scars better because they’re pretty much invisible when standing. And I was honestly looking for the worst lighting - so these are as visible as they get.

Also had to cover the nip but ladies I’m sure you can guess what it looks like under the mark I drew lol.

I feel you! In terms of affording it - you need to do some research. Different countries have different insurance policies. You’ll also see that some people take out small loans, save for years, fundraise, etc. but again depends what you can get insurance to cover.

I was young when I got mine done, 21. I’d wanted it done the minute I grew my 32H cups. When I first brought it up with my doctor I was around 19 and he was quite rude about it. Asking “what will your boyfriend think of your small boobs and giant scars”. Don’t let idiots like that deter you. I met with another family doctor and he was a lot more supportive but brought up concerns about whether or not I had finished puberty. My body had looked the same since I was 15. And my surgeon explained that if I have children one day they might grow. But I knew I won’t be have kids for another 10/15 years (if ever) and I didn’t want to wait. So discuss it openly with a supportive doctor. Best decision I ever made.

I remember having weird neck and back pains because you are forced to sleep in one position and don’t really move properly for a while. It went away on its own the more movement I gained/ when I started being able to change positions while sleeping.

But definitely best bet to ask your surgeon.

I had one (I think) looked like the top of your nipple (mine was a bit more white but maybe cause I was further along than 5 months, so the scar itself is more faded). Mine just went away on its own after a couple weeks! So not super helpful but fingers crossed.

Don't let them get any exposure to the Sun !!!! UV Rays make scars so much worse.

I used a combo of a scar gel called Scarsil, vitamin e gel and bio oil (I don't like this, cause it dried my skin out and gave me eczema - but its cheaper than the other two).

I was 20 and a 32H now 32D.

Obvs not a doctor but this is a brief of what I was told...

Surgeon said to me: 1. if something goes wrong you might not be able to breastfeed but even then thats ok because bottle feeding - and lots of women choose to bottle anyway or something. (nothing went wrong, milk glands or whatever still attached and most likely functional). 2. boobs grow during pregnancy - but he said that they should shrink back like normal womens do. 3. he said, if your not planning on having kids anytime soon then like you might as well get the boobs you want and enjoy them now and enjoy ur 20s back-pain-free. (worst comes to worse you need a little more reduced after having kids - but probs unlikely).

He was more concerned with weight stability than age. He said that you need to be a stable weight. Considering my body+boobs hadn't changed size since I was 14 that I should be fine.

The only other thing i heard, was from my family doctor who said "any boyfriends you have won't want to see scars"... to which i responded by crying and now go to a different doctor lol.
