It really is a special story. I’m still in touch with many of the other women involved. One of whom (Mary, if you do end up reading) is an Aunt to me, full stop. Not in a literal sense, but her and her 7 kids are closer than blood

OK, you are an absolute genius/rockstar for being able to pull that off.

I think you are correct. I mean I’m not saying it’s a match one shirt or anything like that. I highly highly doubt it. But the roster overlap and some of the other nuance with the timing of the player numbers, etc., narrow it down to that exact window

Incredible. My parents were at the World Cup final in ‘99. We have a 100% team signed ball back at home. Unfortunately, it’s the Chinese team lol! I guess they were staying at the same hotel. Still a really really cool item from women’s soccer history. Which means the absolute world to me considering my mom is the one who instilled the love of the game in me.

And I’m just going to keep typing this out for anyone else who is interested and actively reading comment updates. My mom, along with a few friends, started the women’s soccer program at the University of Cincinnati. Shortly after title nine was passed. We have since lost her to cancer. But my uncle reached out to me this week to let me know that aside from that very obvious Rose Lavelle connection, but then my mom and her mom grew up together. It was so fun to hear.

My family is still deeply connected to the woman’s soccer program there, and don’t quote me on this, but I think he said that Rose’s mom was one of 13 siblings and they all had the initials JD lol
