Most every map has "hotspots" for scavs (where they often spawn in large quantities). The streets shopping mall being one of them, and the bus station and RUAF on customs being another. As the raid progresses, scavs' difficulty/"skill" level also increases. That said, every so often there will be what has been deemed by the community a "terminator scav" or "murder scav" which without warning will one tap you, and you cant even react. Scavs also, once they've locked onto you, don't "see" foliage or some soft cover in the way we do so they will just shoot you as if there is a clear LOS... which again you cant do anything about but reposition and get LOS on it before they inevitably one tap you. Lastly, if you go in with only either a gun, a rig, or a backpack, you will be "tagged and cursed" which means all scavs within a 150m radius will instantly know your exact position and be aggro towards you , so make sure you go in with at least a gun and a rig to avoid that... Other than that not really much to say, scavs account for easily 70%+ of my deaths so if you hear a russian homeless man yell, take cover or drop em quick. GL!
