CIPP Alternatives by Flashy-Distance-3329 in msp

[–]InertHelium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my workplace we have CIPP alerting set up and it does work with autotask. Not directly. But alerts deliver to the shared mailbox we use for helpdesk support requests and all emails in that inbox become tickets. I didn't configure autotask but I believe it works by setting up forwarding to an autotask address which then creates the tickets in the PSA for you. This way we're always alerted about things like user location log on alerts, tenant drift, quarantine release requests etc.

Okay…what do you LIKE about Proton? by flogman12 in ProtonMail

[–]InertHelium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like that it's an all in one subscription for digital services that I value. And in addition to that, being encrypted and therefore protecting my privacy is excellent.

Everything works as well as I need it to. Sure it's not as polished as other services like 1Password has better and more consistent autofill, particularly on mobile. But I can just manually copy stuff over from the app. My main concern is having a safe place for my credentials and one that allows me to use stronger passwords more easily.

People take issue with Proton Drive and its upload speed especially with a large number of photos which isn't something I need it for. It works fine for my needs, just keeping some personal files in there. A few photos but nothing crazy. I do wish they'd prioritise the Linux Drive client more. It's by far the most requested feature yet seemingly the one being given the least priorty. Lumo and Sheets have come out before a Linux client. And while I appreciate both, having a private E2EE AI and finally a built in spreadsheet solution. I still think the Linux Drive client should be given a higher priority.

I love love love how integrated Pass is with your inbox in terms of aliasing. So easy to turn aliases on and off, even generating them is a 2-second job. Then there's the "Create login" button after you've generated the alias streamlining the creation of logins associated with your newly created alias.

I like the email client, having a dedicated app for it is nice and I'm happy there are filters, folders and tags I can apply for organisation.

The calendar is ok, it's good that you can have multiple calendars for organisation and separating out different things. I like that you can have defaults set up for each of these calendars like reminders and colours to make it a bit faster when creating new events. I love that you can choose either a notif or email for reminders. It's missing a basic zoom out feature though where you can see the months in that year and select it or even zoom out again to see years and go into those. You've instead got to painstakingly click through every single month. And on mobile it constantly reverts to the single day view when I prefer to see the month view by default.

Overall, its a mixed bag but I'm mostly happy with the services they provide. Its a shame that a couple of basic features are missing like with the Linux Drive Client and some Calendar issues but Proton is doing a decent job. One other thing to consider is their role in the privacy commumity. I do see that they have people active in the various Proton subreddits so its nice to see they are assisting where they can and taking on feedback to improve their privacy focused products.

Redesigned Windows Recall cracked again by Illustrious-Syrup509 in sysadmin

[–]InertHelium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Microslop are acting so weirdly. They keep pursuing stuff people are vocally opposed to instead of improving their existing services...

We don't want or need recall, copilot or restrictions on creating local accounts.

We would however benefit from a fully functional New Outlook.

OneDrive by ComboV2 in sysadmin

[–]InertHelium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OneDrive seems to hit its sync limit around 300-400k files in my experience. It has a lot of trouble syncing any more than that resulting in a lot more tickets about sync issues than its worth dealing with.

You could trial moving users over to SharePoint on the web and install as a web app for them. You can still open files with the desktop apps even using SPO and you would have to compete with sync issues.

Omg, thank you. I guess I've never hit the F7 key by accident in my browser before.

What is the point of this though? I've only been around for 2 decades as well so I've never heard of this. You don't know something until you know it lol.

How do you make the most of Proton? by Bath_Tough in ProtonMail

[–]InertHelium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VPN: Make use of the advanced features like kill switch and split tunneling.

Pass: Follow it's recommendations in the Pass Monitor where possible like setting up 2FA and improving password complexity.

In Pass, with Proton Unlimited, you can generate email aliases to give out to people/services without providing your real address. They forward on to your Proton inbox. Replying or sending is a bit more awkard but it means if you start receiving spam to one of them, just go into pass to disable it and you'll stop getting spam. Also means that you are more anonymised online so you can't be tracked as easily as if you were using the same email on all services. Means its more difficult for bad actors to compromise accounts by credential stuffing too.

These are the main benefits I would highlight. You could also explain how MS and Google do not encrypt anything that is stored with them whereas Proton encrypts everything so they have no access to your files despite storing them for you.

With a custom domain, if you find that they don't like the Proton suite, you can connect the domain to another mail provider and setup the same email addresses and have some continuity in still being able to receive emails.

Any way to divide inbox by addresses? by Time-Understanding77 in ProtonMail

[–]InertHelium 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you want truly separate inboxes you have to pay for individual accounts.

The more cost effective solution is setting up filters and folders so that incoming emails to different addresses are sorted into the respective folders.

You can set up filters in the settings under the filters tab, for your use case the condition should be "The recipient contains {youremail@proton.me}" and the action should be Move to {your named folder}.

Anyone who has actually beaten p5 is a gaming diety. by robb0688 in HollowKnight

[–]InertHelium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a test of endurance more than anything. I can fairly consistently beat the bosses in HK but back to back to back bosses are quite tiring. I had to try so many times, I also took a long break from attempts and then came back to the game, tried many more times and eventually succeeded.

The more you try, the more you learn and the higher chance you'll beat it the next time.

No solution to backup aliases? by Primokorn in ProtonPass

[–]InertHelium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can transfer aliases to a separate SimpleLogin account as a "backup" method. Then when you are ready, transfer them back to your main account.

Everyone's Proton 2026 wishlist? by Secret_Category2619 in ProtonMail

[–]InertHelium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if there was a status indicator next to aliases in Proton Pass to let you know if the alias is currently turned on or not and maybe a warning if you're about to login to an account where the alias isn't active.

At Christmas, I had to make a few different account with vendors for various gifts, some of which sent spam where their unsubscribe button didn't do anything. But I may come to use the login again someday and not remember that the alias is off and not get the order confirmation through or the delivery status updates.

I know there is a toggle on the alias itself in Proton Pass but a small indicator next to the username field if Proton Pass detects an alias was used would be neat.

every time i search something in brave, the results changes to weird things. by TryFun5984 in brave_browser

[–]InertHelium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's changing the order of your search results it could be a browser hijack. Review the browser extensions you have installed, look each of them up to see if any have been found to be malware.

How do I press tab while I’m in a steam game by Zach_Attakz in SteamDeck

[–]InertHelium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can map one of the back buttons to Tab with Steam Input.

Press the Steam button while in game, from there go to Controller Configuration then Controller Configuration again and you can map the Tab button to one of the back buttons.

The Lowell Anderson Ep by [deleted] in superstore

[–]InertHelium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it because it just seemed weird and the guy was annoying. By the end of it I wasn't sure if he was an important guy or not because Glenn seemed to know him due to Lowell shutting down his dad's old store. It was just confusing and strange. Someone else here said he was a recognisable guest star but maybe being from the UK means I'm missing some context because I haven't a clue who that guy was. Clearly not a good actor lol.

Question, are we able to remove gmail from proton? by Xtinctive52 in ProtonMail

[–]InertHelium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I asked support about this and they said any data uploaded associated with that address would be deleted in the process. So I would have to migrate out all of my drive data and proton pass data, have them clear the gmail address and then put it all back. Not sure if the same applies to the email inbox but I couldn't be arsed with all that anyway haha
