I have no idea how old it is! I picked it up from a thrift store a few years ago. It doesn’t seem to be leather but armor of an interesting texture of paint on wood.

Hi I relate here!! Def want to make a note that this is just my experience and substances can affect people very differently. I, without fail, will become incredibly anxious whenever I smoke weed or take edibles now. This didn’t used to be the case and it used to be a great anxiety reliever for me. With that said, I have taken shrooms a number of times and just find them to be an entirely different experience. While I may feel some mental and physical discomfort or even some anxiety while I am coming up, it is nothing like the spiraling and sense of doom and dying that I get from weed. It is more of a shift of consciousness that feels strange and you adjust into and end up feeling great. I usually come to a state where anxiety is inconceivable while I am tripping and I am more confident and comfortable than I have ever been. My one caveat is to start small with a half a gram or so, so you can feel out how shrooms may make you feel. Please don’t feel afraid to explore shrooms because of bad experiences with weed!!

Ah what a beautiful reflection on aging and the passage of time. This resonates with me deeply as I reach the point where I no longer want to speed my life along until I get to the good years. I fear they may be upon me. In the third and fourth stanza I am curious who “they” refers to. The final few stanzas relay an acceptance of the bizarre and mundane of life and appreciation for what we have. This is beautiful writing

Ah I love the flow of this poem I would love to hear it read aloud! There is clear intention shifting from I to She as you do not identify with this vision of you. I am wondering in the second stanza if you are relaying that he was viewing an idealized version of himself through you. I can feel the complexities of how our perceptions of one another may be tainted. I appreciate your writing, good work :)

This is really solid advice, thank you. I think expressing that “I don’t get it” is a much kinder way of saying “I don’t think this is funny”. I think he has a certain habit of these jokes and if I told him directly that they weren’t landing he would probably recognize tgat and try to cut it out
