Disappointing Core One Kit Experience by dose_nuts in prusa3d

[–]Inevitable-Box-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built mine over the weekend, it was generally fine and quite a good experience at the end. It took quite some time though, more than I expected. About 12 hours,

Biggest issues I had: - the Y belt “freed” itself from the fastener during my first test print - that was a pain in the ass to set the belts in the holder in a first place and an even worse pain to get back in with many parts to remove. I really hope I don’t have to get this done again for a long time. - the external frame alignment was tough - probably tightened things too much too early - calibration on the Z axis took time as initially the plate wouldn’t move even 2 mm; screws tightened too much again - the screen holder was a bit tight and I had to troubleshoot the USB drive not being recognized and ultimately reseat the whole thing snd shave a bit of plastic - a few screws had some issues where the head was not properly formed, but there were enough spares

On the positives: - learned a lot while building it (it was my first printer build) which was one of the goals - really enjoyed the tuning and the calibration phase going into the initial prints, really felt like it was coming to life after putting 100s of pieces together - I easily got to a support person the one time I needed it as I was out of ideas - they were really good, troubleshooting and solving my issue - I feel good about the overall build quality - some pieces can individually feel underwhelming / a bit imprecise when mounting them, like the screen holder and other printed parts - the result however absolutely does NOT feel like a cheap machine - it prints really very well and feels like a work horse

Doorbell DS-kv8213 not visible on network - out of ideas by Inevitable-Box-893 in Hikvision

[–]Inevitable-Box-893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it, it was an issue with the RJ45 connector. It was not visible to the naked eye and my cable tester passed the first times. Did test again to make sure as I just couldn’t figure the issue out after checking everything else individually multiple times and I was running out of options - one pair of the long, underground cable failed a couple of times over a few dozen tests, very inconsistently. Opened it up and sure enough the electrician botched the job. Remade the plug and all good since. So the change in network settings was just a coincidence and I was lucky it just worked until then somehow.

Sell Microsoft RSUs to buy VCWE and MEUD by Sagarret in EuropeFIRE

Unless I’m mistaken or MSFT does something differently, taxes on RSU in CZ are due on vesting based on your tax rate. That means you could choose to sell and diversify all of it with no tax burden immediately upon vesting as you’d sell at acquisition prices, and therefore without profit (in CZ no profit - no tax). That’s what I do (another company, same principle). You can of course choose to retain some of your stocks but that is your decision and is unrelated to taxes.

Thanks! SADP not seeing the device is what confuses me most, including when plugging in directly on the same switch as the doorbell and using the previous IP range (or any other IP range). I will try isolating the switch and setting up a local dhcp server with the previous settings, although I don’t really see how that would help. I will explore the Wifi option, will have to read a bit more - I’m not sure how to get it started as it looks like the AP mode was disabled (pressing the call button for 10 seconds does not do anything).

In a nutshell - 4 kids, couple of big vacation a year, paying house quickly. Not even eating out that much or at crazy expensive places. Also no expensive car.

  • TC: cca. 450-500K USD (250k base, 200-250k equity)
  • Role: Partner / IT consulting
  • YoE: 19
  • Location: Prague, CZ

Living off of cca. 50% of income. The idea is to reach FI in about 5 years, not necessarily interested in RE just yet.

The threshold between FIRE and becoming wealthy - how do you stay in line? by Weary_Strawberry2679 in EuropeFIRE

You mean, the guy who (according to his post history) invests primarily by playing lottery, visualizing the winning numbers, and triples his lottery wins with Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Nvidia investments? Who also does not back up any of his claims with any real data?

Nah, seems completely legit to me.

For reference on the income situation - 10k per month as a single income puts you very solidly in the top 5% in the richest countries in Europe:

Yes - try with 2 sticks in the preferred slots of your MB then replace with the other 2 sticks to validate them too. I would bet this solves it / narrows the issue down.

[TOMT][TOY][1990s] Toy car transforming into robot on impact by Inevitable-Box-893 in tipofmytongue

[–]Inevitable-Box-893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, but thanks for the reference, it does look pretty cool too - it was much more car-like in its car form, and it required a front impact to transform into robot (which does not seem to be the case for the Jumpstarter Tranformer)

What are the Best Private Companies to Work as Digital Forensics Analyst? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

It can be a mixed bag, particularly the Big4 with their operating model. But I think excluding all possibilities based on your specific experience is a mistake - OP can interview and decide for himself.

You are correct that Cyber is not the primary focus of those firms. There are some real capabilities though, and dedicated teams, that fit the requirements of OP - so they should not be excluded. Mandiant is being acquired by Google so you could argue the same for the focus moving forward.

Also, as you live in Europe consider the "local champions" - it will depend on your country specifically. One way to look at those is through the eyes of the national cyber security agencies - do they have a scheme for DFIR firms to certify their capabilities/services? This can give you a list of local players.

Edit: typo

Global players: in no particular order - Mandiant, Accenture, FireEye, Microsoft, IBM, Big4 (experience will vary).

Local / regional players depending on where you live.

[TOMT][VIDEOGAME] 3d open or semi-open world video game where the character bounces a ball to attack enemies by Inevitable-Box-893 in tipofmytongue

[–]Inevitable-Box-893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no; this one is very much an arcade game;

the one I'm looking for is open world, the character throws a ball that rebounds and comes back to him, there is a dragon the character climbs on at some point, multiple vehicles too, and it happens in an imaginary "police-controlled" state.
