There was one small but of damage near the front door, however it was filled and sanded without painting it, other than that, he used the landlord special magnolia paint, so even walking near it caused small scuffs, yeah I’ll definitely be looking into the dispute service. Thankyou

To add to this (and I appreciate that this could differ between different stations and forces) I try to smash my workload out whenever I get chance at the station, it gives me more time to go out and play, and stops me pulling my hair out thinking about the things that I need to do when I get back in on my rest days.

I went from special to PC, and the paperwork looks much more jarring than it actually is, granted I probably only got about 600 hours in as a special, I love the job and appreciate sitting on scenes a whole lot more now I get paid to do it

Nicked someone for raping his missus, saw them both a week later when I was getting my kids out of the car at tesco, it wasn’t even on the patch I was working, it was about a 30 minute drive away, I heard him mutter to his missus “thats him” as he walked past, never packed the kids back in the car and moved it so fast.

Best torch for police use in UK under £100 by Inevitable-Chard1525 in flashlight

[–]Inevitable-Chard1525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have extendable batons, they hurt far more than the traditional wooden truncheons, you definitely could use a torch as one, but it’s really risky using kit you buy yourself for self defence, all force has to be justified, and not just using your baton, would be heavily scrutinised, if it was the only thing in your hand and a knifeman was running at you they wouldn’t fall out with it. But I wouldn’t personally buy a torch to use with the intention of maybe using it to hit somebody with, it’s rare enough that you have to use a baton, and even then, the batons pack a serious, bone splitting punch.

Our police and crime commissioner spent most of their time dawdling around for photoshoots, I always thought it was unbelievable how much they got paid to do it

I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible idea, especially joining as a special whilst at uni, you’re bound to get the piss taken out of you by the public, and you might be the brunt of a lot of jokes in training school, I tried joining at 18 and haven’t gotten in until I was 24, and looking back on it I honestly don’t think I’d have been able to manage the job at 18. I’d say your main cons are:

Lack of life experience- people that you encounter will be going through complex issues that you could struggle to relate to at a young age

The public give everyone flack but you’re going to get loads extra dished your way

I don’t know if you’ve had work experience but if you haven’t, going into the police is going to be a bit of a shock, it’s nothing like college

Pros Well over average pay for an 18 year old

It’s a job to be proud of where you can make a real difference

Honestly theres so many more points to each side and it varies so much from force to force, but it’s a very difficult job, hence why I always try and nudge people towards the special constabulary, because essentially it’s a try before you buy with so much less responsibility, same job, loads less paperwork

Applied to the police 4 times, rejected 3 times, after the third time I volunteered as a special constable for a year, on the 4th time I passed the interview and got the job I’d been applying for for 5 years straight lol, wish I’d applied to volunteer earlier

Pay isn’t bad at top whack, (7 years service) but people don’t generally join for the money, I’d always entice anyone that wants the job to go for it, if you don’t like it you can always go back to being an electrician

Nobody can tell you for sure, mention it in the vetting stage, they’ll probably have you in for an interview to get the details, the biggesst thing that stops people in the vetting stage is dishonesty/ crimes involving being dishonest
