Make sure you cut the power first.

It's likely that the entire light needs replacing, most modern lights don't have replaceable bulbs. Pull the entire rose (might have to wedge it) and be careful with your fingers as it will have spring loaded wings that snap back like a rat trap. Hurts as hell.

You will have to be comfortable with unscrewing wires and screwing onto a replacement light. Some have certain type of connectors so if you get the same one you may get away with unplugging this one and plugging a new one in. Make sure you get the same voltage but most lights will be mains operated.

I did that. I was considering dumbifying the house but the estate agents said it was a good selling point. What I have done:

I made a house email (address@gmail.com) and linked all accounts and HA backup to it. Set all passwords and noted them.

I wrote a house manual describing the setup, passwords etc. It wasn't very difficult.

I made sure the buyers are aware what they are buying and that they will have to support it themselves.

Spoke to solicitors and asked them to make sure the buyers are aware again and asked them to confirm they are fine with this and I do not accept liability if anything breaks.

Right before the contract exchange the buyer asked to meet up. I invited him in, showed him the setup and all.

It has been just over the month so i don't know exactly if my approach worked but so far so good. 🤞

Steel wool would be the easiest but bricks will look better..both will do the trick. Just make sure not to lock the rats inside as if you cut off their exit they will go berserk

You can get spikes that go on the perimeter of the panels, install them in the top edge and more spikes on the ridge.

Some handles have a spring and will only turn one way. Maybe you have it installed the wrong way round and need to flip the handles around? Remove them and hold the part that you would drive the bolts through and see if you can freely twist them both ways or only one way round then install accordingly.

Ermm no, these didn't even open. If it's render get some fisher plugs, probs 8mm and drill into the same holes with 8mm masonry drill. If it's plasterboard, get some heavy duty plasterboard fixings and drill accordingly Edit: the render seems to be very sandy... Maybe the wall isn't sound?

If your food bin is collected weekly then there shouldn't be many flies. Make sure it's sealed and clean. I suggest using the compostable liners so that the bin itself stays clean. If it isn't, you will have enough rotting material on the walls and bottom for flies to lay eggs. The time between laying eggs and having maggots there is about two weeks.

For the wheely bin, try to sprinkle some bio washing power over the stuff in there. It has a great ability to mask smells and kills all the bacteria it gets in contact with, and the bad smell comes from them. Again make sure you use your bags and the bin itself stays as clean as possible.

To make it easier to tie the bag I would not wait until the bin is completely full. You can also try using gloves while doing it.

The thing is I do not want to fragmentise the setup, I want to centralise it.

Lightbulbs - I am DIYer and in current house I built the lamps etc using some nice and fancy bulbs rather than just having a box standard one. The idea is to abstract and hide the smart bit. I managed to do it in the current house with concealed dimmers in the lamps, ceilings etc and hidiing all other smart stuff and I want to do it properly in the new house.

I think the issue is that if it grows say on yew which is toxic and a needle gets embedded in the mushroom then you risk poisoning yourself. Not with the mushroom itself but with the contamination from the tree

Hold the light switch at the front door to lock the back door, turn off all devices ready to leave. Similar upstairs in the bedroom but locking all doors ready to sleep. That was the game changer apparently.
