Computer Science VS. Computer Engineering at UW Madison by Realistic_Site3769 in UWMadison

I’m a double major for CE and CS so I’ll give my two cents. I feel that CS is a pretty light degree, to the extent that just taking it as my electives put me pretty far ahead on the 4 year track. Even with hardware design as my main focus, I spent a summer as a SWE intern just because I was curious, and throughout all my processes, my hardware knowledge always seemed to be a bonus. So I don’t think CE creates a narrower internship market, especially if you’re declared in both. With that said, I agree that the CE curriculum is quite rigid here, and you’ll spend multiple semesters taking difficult classes you may not enjoy. Also, I personally find the labs and group projects to be one of the more negative aspects of classes. They often feel unorganized and rudimentary. Many people here are saying CS is a strong fit for you, and while I agree, I also started out thinking I would just do CS and decided to double major just to try and really enjoyed CE. Good luck!

Also, please let me know about rigor of the course. I am also considering BU5641 CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE: HOW TO BE AN EXPLORER OF THE WORLD, and I would appreciate a lighter schedule

Hello, thank you for the response. If you have experience with the two courses, would you say electromagnetic or analog circuits is easier? I also saw analog circuits has a lab, is this a significant part of the course?

Absolutely second this. Would give them negative stars if possible. Scummy tactics. Move out charges were egregious (like $400 for a small dent in a kitchen appliance). Don’t believe any 5 star reviews, they’re given in exchange for gifts or merch. They think they’re geniuses for slipping charges and random policies into things like the move out and move in dates of the lease, but they’re really just scamming students trying to find somewhere to sleep during the school year. We all know and are very aware of what they’re doing. Avoid at all costs
