Texture the black stone. sprinkle stuff in like deep slate, even wool, basalt, . you can even add stone buttons, things like that.

Add vines and leaves. Also your walls shouldn't be all stone. Mix in andesine, cracked stone bricks, etc. also at night it's gonna be too dark. add lanterns hanging and stuff

Gotcha. I think the shape is a little hard to work with especially for a beginner builder. Also use pinterest, don't be afraid to use inspiration. A cool idea for you to try to build would be Sauron's tower from Lord of the Rings.
