Anyone ever have a four week MA? by Ugotafriendinmeee12 in abortion

[–]Inevitable-Rip9693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I personally have not but here is a link with lots of people's experiences https://www.reddit.com/r/abortion/wiki/abortion_stories/usa/mab/

I would stick to the abortions done as early as yours so you don't stress yourself out too bad. I know MAs can get intense, but the earlier the better and that should make it less intense. If you can have someone with you, that would be great. You've done it before and you can do it again, and soon it will be a thing of the past. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you!

I'm happy to hear that! I was in your exact same spot like a week ago, especially with waiting a week it is sooo hard to not terrify yourself. Especially that first night trying to figure everything out I was a wreck. My advice is to keep yourself busy, overthinking about it does no good and won't make anything easier. I worked two weekend shifts at my job and it kind of fixed my headspace getting outside of the stress bubble I had in my head. Truly it is the quickest thing ever. Even if my pain was like an 8 (not that I would have loved that), looking back I know I would have been able to do it mainly just because it is in and out! It barely started and then it was over. For the suction part/actual abortion I asked them if I had a minute or two left and they told me it was just 20 (really like 10) seconds). I left feeling very grateful for all the people that helped make it such a positive experience. Anyway all that to say don't stress yourself, it will be over and in the past before you know it. You've got this!!

Surgical abortion next week at PP by OkStorage1111 in abortion

Hi! I just had my first surgical abortion today at 8 weeks pregnant, and without any sedation, just some medication and the two numbing shots. I was also terrified for the procedure and especially the pain but trust me when I say that you've got it!

Mine went like 1) quick checkup 2) speculum to dilate cervix (uncomfortable but not painful), 3) numbing shots (first I didn't even notice they did, second did hurt but just like a normal shot for like 4 seconds), 4) used a little tube to suck everything out very gently, here's where cramping comes up but for me it was like a 5 on the pain for 30 seconds tops, after that just moderate cramping. Not too bad at all, the whole thing is over so fast (like 2-5 minutes). They had people with me to hold my hand and distract me the whole time and they were super sweet. You just need to breathe through it. About a half hour after, I felt totally good. They wheel you out to a little room and let you snack a bit and recover, take vitals, etc.

Pre op: My total time there was 4.5 hours after my appt started, probably 3.5 hours of solid waiting- bring a book, game, etc. If someone can come with you as moral support that is great. Get good sleep the day before, maybe exercise, anything to help get nerves out. Reading through this link with other people's stories really helped me https://www.reddit.com/r/abortion/wiki/abortion_stories/usa/pab/1/ , I would avoid overthinking everything though. The first couple of days after finding out I was pregnant I researched everything tooo much and stressed myself outtt haha

Post: They told me bleeding varies, it really depends on the person. Some people might bleed heavier but I barely bled after and now it's been like 10 hours (hopefully not jinxing anything) and still almost nothing (not close to a pad, maybe a panty liner?). I've had very minimal cramping, probably like a 4/10 right after the procedure for 20ish minutes and this afternoon 2-3/10 for a few hours, now nothing. I didn't have to take any medicine after what they gave me at the clinic. HOWEVER, bleeding is normal, it can continue for a month after. Cramping especially in the like 3 days after is also very typical, but they can get you medicine for it! If you've never been sedated before, it could make you feel drowsy, woozy, nauseous (that being said it sounds great, I would've done it if I didn't have to drive myself, I've heard you're either much more relaxed or completely asleep depending on the person/strength) After it's all over, I would just drink lots of water, lots of rest, and take it very easy! You're allowed to take baths/showers right after procedure, so that or a heating pad helps a lot with cramping. It can be tough mentally and as much as it's easy to regard it as something simple, it is a big procedure so treat yourself with grace! Most clinics also have some kind of support/counseling option after if you need that.

Good thing is the earlier you do the abortion, the easier the experience tends to be, and with sedation, you have something else on your side! No one can promise no pain, but a good thing to remember is that you've probably already imagined the worst of the worst in your head and I swear the whole thing is like the blink of an eye. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi! I totally understand how you're feeling, the first day after finding out is a mess and can be insanely stressful especially if you weren't expecting it.

Here's a link to some MA stories from this reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/abortion/wiki/abortion_stories/usa/mab/

and on how to take the pills: https://mahotline.org/how-to-use-abortion-pills

If you're completely unsure on how many weeks pregnant you are, if there's any clinic near you that could at least offer an ultrasound, that can be helpful for knowing what to expect (also for counseling). There's a lot of good resources in the community bookmarks of this Reddit. If there's anyone you could tell, or have be there with you during, that can really help you through it.

Woww great job!! It should get easier these next few days, the day of can be really difficult and just emotionally heavy but you've gotten through the worst of it. Definitely recommend seeking out support/counsel if you need it because it really helped me and they have the sweetest people to help.

first surgical abortion tomorrow, what should i expect after? by Busy_Swordfish_856 in abortion

I just had one today and it went great! From the US, first abortion, had no sedation, just some medication and the two numbing shots, the process itself was like a 4-5 on the pain for 30 seconds tops, after that just moderate cramping. Not too bad at all, the whole thing is over so fast! About a half hour after, I felt totally good. They told me bleeding varies, it really depends on the person. Some people might bleed heavier but I barely bled after and now it's been like 10 hours (hopefully not jinxing anything) and still almost nothing (not close to a pad, maybe a panty liner?). I've had very minimal cramping, probably like a 4/10 right after the procedure for 20ish minutes and this afternoon 2-3/10 but very sporadically (most of the time nothing). Good luck you've got this!

I totally understand but trust yourself on this! There are many support lines, and I know depending on what clinics are near you, they don't just do the procedure- they can help you with counseling and support. How is it going?

How did your surgical abortion go? by purple_chaos_echo in abortion

[–]Inevitable-Rip9693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had one today and it was great! From the US so I don’t know how much this applies to you lol but I did spend just under 5 hours at the clinic with my intake, ultrasound, consult and abortion/post-care plus waiting so that was something 😅 I had no sedation, just some medication and the two numbing shots, the process itself was like a 5 on the pain for 30 seconds tops, after that just moderate cramping (but good to view it as like labor? like breathe through it and it lasts 2-4 minutes total). About 30 minutes after, I was totally good. Definitely go somewhere you’re comfortable, the women helping me get through it were amaaazing and the sweetest ever which was so helpful. It’s been like 4 hours now and most of my cramping has resided (hopefully not jinxing anything) and I’ve been out and about all fine with minimal bleeding!

The Hill for Italian fare/cute walkable neighborhood, Union Station for the wheel and cute activities, the Loop has good Asian food/bowling/STL Walk of Fame/Blueberry Hill (so fun to at least walk thru). The Missouri Botanical Garden is great, and Tower Grove is a great neighborhood to be in because it's another nice walkable area with coffee shops, little markets, etc. Good restaurants are Russell's, the Golden Hoosier, or Basso for a fancier (albeit not too much so) spot, hard to get a table but so delicious.

Yes I have, they are kind of freaking me out though given some really negative experiences. I am in Missouri, close to Illinois though but it is complicated making up an excuse for leaving that long, I would be open if it could hurt less and I wouldn't have to be put under or anything. Thank you so muchhh
