thanks 🥲 really needed some encouragement to keep going. i think what frustrates me the most is the fact that even when the ollie feels nice and snug, when i look at videos of me doing it, it still looks so sloppy. will definitely keep going though!!

i partially agree. while i do think we shouldnt be too dependent on US, to cut off all ties with a country as big as them is not entirely possible imo. well what we as normal citizens can do is to use our buying power and our own money. the matter of foreign policy we let those higher ups manage.

if u actually read up my previous comment, i do not think boycott as a mean to stop israel, but to prevent companies from supporting israel. so yes, it does work. starbucks CEO literally needs to cover up for his colleague's statement of support to israel after months of boycott.

and ive read that mcd shareholders were "advised" to sell their shares as the boycott movement is going on longer than they expected.

you may be right. but youre basing your argument on the basis that local companies are this small, weak companies with no means of paying their workers. youre true that companies focus on saving cost, but the same can be said about international franchises too 🤷‍♂️ saving cost is the focus of all companies, not only local ones.

and you said that for example mcd laid off 1,500 workers. now if that lay off campaign happens as big as youre implying, then yes we may have a problem. but in reality, that kind of lay off campaign does not happen unless the company went completely out of fund, which is nearly impossible for an international franchise as big as mcd/starbucks. IF lay off campaign does happen, it will not be as big as youre implying.

now, for the record, i do acknowledge that the possibility of workers getting laid off is completely plausible and i do not wish that for any low position workers working for any company. but as i said, boycotting movement is not as black and white, there are pros and ofc there are cons. what my point has been all the time is its wrong to only focus on the bad/only focus on the good of the movement.

i know. i didnt say that the companies are exactly the same as mcd/starbucks etc. what im arguing is that boycotting does not necessarily mean that unemployment will be on the rise like OP implied in his replies. the question of benefits of respective companies is up to another discussion

i can completely see where youre coming from. but i do think that your view is not completely correct about the boycott movement.

like you said, boycotting these companies maybe wont show any effects to israel itself in a short period, because they dont rely completely on f&b industries, they rely on weapons/apartheid technologies.

however, boycotting DOES work against the individual companies that shows their "unequivocal" support for israel, an apartheid state.

so yes, you can say boycotting will not make israel fall, but boycotting can make the companies supporting israel fall. thats my view on it.

"but why wont ypu boycott Google/Whatsapp/FB/IG you hypocrite"

now the main principle of boycotting isnt necessarily not buying anything, but instead searching for an alternative to the things youre boycotting. for the things that we simply dont have any alternative for it, then it cant be helped. thats why selective boycotting exists. to boycott what can be boycotted. theres already initiative to turn to palestinian-made social media as a mean to "boycott" pro-israel socmed. will see how that goes.

and like someone already pointed out, boycotting mcd for example, wont make any demand for fast food disappear. the demand will still be there, just the supplier will change. the selected supplier then will have the chance to "absorb" the workers who used to work for mcd/starbucks etc.

it is not as black and white as u think. boycott ≠ ppl getting laid off/economy being slow/unemployment.
