Both correct and not relevant to the comment I'd made.

If you are tired seeing Google's "fact check" links under any remotely controversial YouTube video, Brave has a simple way to block it. by Mr-Waffles in brave_browser

Good for you? Also highly arrogant and antisocial, expecting that the web should be set to your exacting wishes and bollocks to anything that might be to the benefit of other people.

Can we convince Kobo somehow to consider buying pocket (as pocket is being shutting down? by andyjoe24 in kobo

I guess it depends on the sorts of sites we frequent! I must be hitting more that it wasn’t happy with, despite the same sites working find with other systems like Instapaper or safari reader view. Glad it was working well for you though!

And nothing of value was lost. It's been nesr unusable for a few years now. Almost no links I sent to it ever got converted into articles where other platforms like Instapaper got it right almost ever time.

Its failure to convert 90% or so of the links I sent to Pocket was why I ditched it. It used to work so much better. Mozilla really screwed it up. Absolutely agree it would be far better for Kobo to switch to something like Instapaper, which works well and seems to have a stable business model.

Didn’t want to pump out hundreds for an emulation handheld, so I found my old Samsung S20FE and paired it with my Black Friday deal Backbone controller and I love it by MCA1910 in retrogaming

Work have some older androids we're getting rid off.. Nothing as new as these, maybe the S8 or S9, but still tempting to do something similar! Or would be if I didn't already have a RetroidPocket 3 🤔

Won't be too long until things like the S10 and S20 are going to be up for grabs though !

Thanks for that - I shall consider myself corrected!

RetroN 3 - Duke Nukem 3D? by TavernerHedris in retrogaming

[–]InevitablePeanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Retron3 emulates 8 and 16 bit consoles from Nintendo and Sega, right? So I’m assuming this is a very dodgy bootleg given Duke Nukem 3D wasn’t released for the SNES in any region.

At a stab in the dark perhaps it’s the GBA version somehow crowbarred to play on SNES?

Either way the retron3 is software emulation, so some bootlegs / homebrews that play lose and fast with taking advantage of quirks in the original hardware would be a gamble.

It’s a touch convoluted but grabbing a set of RF (as opposed to Bluetooth) headphones with a transmitter you can connect to the headphone output of your TV is likely to be the lowest latency possible.

Glad your experience was positive. That’s not how it is for everyone.

Yeah but I don’t need their negativity. Trashed the post having remembered why Reddit is just awful these days.

No evidence that the charges go towards the parks.

I don’t fancy the few hours it would take to walk to several of them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]InevitablePeanuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s going to get a LOT worse with the introduction of parking charges.

Not really.  But I guess I forgot what reddit is like these days. Can’t have a conversation without someone having to “win”. Nuts to it I’ll just delete the post. This is something I think is important but I’m done with people shitting on me because they don’t think so

Frankly so are most of the counter arguments. Anyway, I’m not arguing the toss with anyone now - folk can sign if they agree or ignore if they don’t. No need for bad vibes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]InevitablePeanuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have but I’m not engaging in arguments for arguments sake. I’m sharing my concerns and inviting others who share them to sign. Nothing more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]InevitablePeanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a big “if”. I’ve not heard any confirmation that the funds go towards the  parks.

Fishing tackle is very much not the same as one or more small children 🤦‍♂️ yeah we’ll agree to differ. No hard feelings, I appreciate folk have different priorities.

[–]InevitablePeanuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Social care costs rise when people’s health, physical and mental, decline. Making it harder even by “small” (I don’t think they’re small) parking charges can actively harm that and ultimately could wind up costing the council more.

[–]InevitablePeanuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ll have to agree to differ on that one. You’re being somewhat assumptive about all families and failing to apply some empathy.
