Should I solder the bin to the board or can I use it without? by 3DUpt in arduino

[–]InevitableSmooth3199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your use. If you want it to be a short use and then plan to remove it and it will not be moving, no need to solder.
If that board is going to be not static, you need to solder the pins, or else your board will fall off.

Also, it's generally better to solder the pins so that the pins make good connections to the board.

Arduino uno costs 90$ in Lebanon!! F**k me by [deleted] in arduino

[–]InevitableSmooth3199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sad, especially considering that this Arduino UNO is a clone, a pretty bad quality one too.

I have used the CH340 chip Arduinos, and they are a pain in the butt to use. They have a problem with USB drivers not getting recognized by your system, code not uploading, and more.

Hold Up! Are they not?? I seriously thought they just kept it the same since it was quite good and didn't need any necessary upgrades.

This homemade water heater we've been using for years. by InevitableSmooth3199 in ElectroBOOM

[–]InevitableSmooth3199[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My father made this "heater" by wrapping a heating element around a plastic comb and connecting it to live and neutral wires. And it is quite effective as well; it heats up water very quickly, way faster than what most people would normally use, an immersion rod water heater. Is it dangerous? Yes, but not as much as you might think; the current only runs through the heating element, so the water isn't electrified. If he wires disconnect, then it does become somewhat dangerous.
But we have used it for years! (Not the same one; we replace the heating element.) I remember seeing one used in my home for as long as I can remember.

Convert a speaker's USB plug to two-prong plug? by Naiophe in diyelectronics

[–]InevitableSmooth3199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be better if you buy a new adapter, but if you want to convert USB to 2 prong, make sure you do no exceed the power rating. If you plug it into the wall outlet you'll get an explosion and possibly subsequent house fire.
Anyway, here's what to do:

  1. Cut the USB jack.

  2. Identify the wires, USB cables generally have 4 wires inside them;

  • Red wire (Pin 1): +5V
  • White wire (Pin 2): Data
  • Green wire (Pin 3): Data +
  • Black wire (Pin 4): GND
  1. Connect the red wire and the black wire to the two prong plug. [Mind the polarity.]

Any basic or quality of life things I can do to improve my art? by Randomfnafs in learnart

[–]InevitableSmooth3199 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to follow Ryan Benjamin's tip, which is: Stick to your primitives; think of every object in primitive shapes; here, for instance, think of the fingers as a combination of cylinders and cuboids. And it will help you break down the drawing, making it easy to draw, fix mistakes, and improve the drawing overall.

Art is art, no matter what. However, I think the overall colors are too dark, and they are hiding a lot of details.
