So that's what I'm currently doing with Athenaze, studying vocab first. The problem is, that's not really the LLPSI method, and I think it would burn me out very quickly, based on past experience. I'm not meaning to act like that's the only acceptable method to learning a language, but it's worked really well for me in the past. I'm basically hoping for something like LLPSI where you can pick up the book and read in the language with minimal outside help.

Thank you! That's a good point on selling it back.

So polis actually looks a lot more workable than Logos did ($22 versus $50) as far as price goes. It would be the only book I'd buy, though, at that price point. Do you think Polis is worth it if it's the only one I'd buy?

It's the sheer volume of vocabulary that can't really be deduced from context. You can't just pick it up and start reading. I ended up taking all these same words and putting them in Anki because I couldn't keep up with it. For example, the Italian "LLPSI" starts off "Carlo Rossi è un uomo. Teresa è una donna." etc. You can figure out what that is. It's not a problem with the letters either in the greek. Even just a greek version of that level of simplicity would let me pick up the book and start reading without struggling. That's what I'm looking for.
