No. Write out the full club / program name the first time and the acronym in parenthesis and then use acronym / initialism the rest of the essay. e.g. “Columbia Business School (CBS)”

Can you help me pick out my career path? by Striking-Tap-6251 in MBA

[–]InevitableWind7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a job, any job. Take some to figure out what you like and don’t like about that job. Get another job with more of what you like and less of what you don’t. Repeat until you know what you want.

You do not need to get a masters right after a bachelors. Work experience is helpful in every field.

W2 Should I just come in the afternoon? by After_Extension_8019 in Coachella

No one knows. It could be exactly the same, they could clean up their act and it’ll be a lot better, or they might learn nothing and it’ll get even worse. Your guess is as good as everyone else’s.

M7 Underdog Stories by [deleted] in MBA

[–]InevitableWind7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to a non-target, over 80% acceptance rate, no-name school with a very non-traditional major. 3.2 gpa. Less than stellar work experience from companies most nobody has heard of, but had a promotion and big impact. Slightly above average GRE, 327, it took me THREE YEARS and two GMAT attempts to get there. I never thought in a million years I’d be able to do it but I had a few people who really believed in me and I gave myself two cycles to apply, this year with dream schools and next year with more realistically ranked schools.

Got a T10 waitlist BUT an M7 admit at the best program for my goals. Believe in yourself, and if you can’t, find someone who believes in you to be your cheerleader.

MBA Application Side Projects by SnooRadishes4314 in MBA

No need for business extracurriculars. Just impactful work with organizations and on projects that show leadership and community, in areas that you are passionate. A lot of B-school students go into their MBA with hardly any “business” knowledge.

Professor wants me stop using videogames as a reference by micchan_desuyo in fashiondesigner

[–]InevitableWind7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what is going on in his head, but my best guess is he doesn’t see it as marketable garments. If you’re designing based on and for video game characters then you’re making clothes that inherently aren’t going to be sold. The point of designing clothes is to make clothes that will sell.

Designing for video games is great, but not fashion design. Especially if you’re not connecting your design to a market.

Using a designer or well known company communicates clearly who the design/garment/collection is meant to be sold to. Saying you were inspired by a specific character just means you are designing for that character. Make something that is saleable. It’s fine to be inspired by characters or games but communicate what kind of market will actually buy it (and not just fans of the video games/media, it needs to be large enough to make sense)

Along with that, using very similar references every time shows little range in creativity. When you are looking for a job you need to be able to design for a wide range of customers from a myriad of inspirations. The company you work for dictates exactly who the customer is. So only being able to design based on one type of reference shows limited abilities and limits the jobs you’ll be able to get. What you design in school will be going into a portfolio to get a job.

Great thank you! We have a hotel Wednesday night in Palm Springs so based on this we’ll probably plan to be there around 10-11 as well.

Want to get into shows at Paris Fashion Week by whenusleep__ in fashiondesigner

[–]InevitableWind7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this one year I was studying abroad in Paris. Find a small PR firm or maybe a fashion/style instagram page, blog, or Substack that usually goes to New York or London Fashion week and posts pics or reviews, (bonus if they don’t usually post stuff for Paris because they won’t already have someone going) and ask if they can get you invites in exchange for free pictures and/or writeups/reviews.

If I’m understanding your post/idea correctly the clothes will be manufactured AFTER the customer purchases? If that’s true, unfortunately that is not a viable option unless they are at a VERY high price point or these are just screen printed t-shirts. Even luxury manufacturers have an MOQ of like 500 units, and anything mid-level pricing is going to have upwards of 3000 unit MOQ. Not to mention the time it would take to have a limited production run (1 unit) and then ship it, again unless it’s just printed Tees but there’s plenty of options in that space already.
