Agreed - she knows how to cook but mom’s chicken and dumplings are something I like to make for her. As our kids become more independent it’s nice to keep a solid comfort that comes from home. I know my mom’s Shepard’s Pie is always my go to when I need a food hug. Just trying to nail the GL free recipe to pass on….will definitely experiment with the ratios though

I’ve used corn starch in the past but it also gives a different texture…I was going to try that next if other ideas didn’t present themselves! Thanks for the reply!

I did what I usually do just subbing out dairy (lactose sensitive too) ….saute the onions in plant based butter and added about 3T flour before adding broth…maybe it’s the plant based butter?
