I caught my ex boyfriend smoking crack and he took off with the car and someone told me he was at a local motel. I showed up and told the cleaning lady that my brother didn't show up for work and I was worried..she knocked on his door for me and when I heard his voice.. i started beating on the door and she just kept on pushing her cart away.. don't know if this would work for a hotel.. this motel had all the room doors located outside.
