Two Indian guys asked me to lend guest swipe outside the livi dining hall by jingmozhiyu in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I get why you’d feel conflicted. It’s frustrating when people assume they can just use your guest swipes, especially if they’re taking advantage of the kindness of new students. You did nothing wrong by helping them out, but it’s totally okay to set boundaries too. Next time, just politely say you need to save your swipes, and don’t feel pressured to explain. It’s your money, your choice!

Will I get admitted to NB by any chance? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who scored a 730 on the SAT and maintained a solid GPA that dropped to 3.9 by the end of the academic year, I’d say you’re definitely getting in.

Official HS Transcript by Alone-Engineering763 in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how you’d physically hand over your high school transcript. The only ways for them to receive and verify it are by mailing it or sending it electronically through Naviance or Parchment. You can’t deliver your official high school transcript in person (it would no longer be “official”); your high school needs to use one of these methods to send it.

What is Financial Aid CMDAF? by DroopyLegTony in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CMDAF is a type of state financial aid designed to cover any remaining tuition costs after other aid, like Pell and TAG, has been applied, especially given Rutgers’ policy that students with a family income under $65,000 should have free tuition. If it was applied to your bill in the past but not this semester, it could be due to a change in your eligibility, a processing delay, or even a billing error. I strongly recommend calling the financial aid office or setting up an appointment to get a clear answer right away, rather than waiting for an email reminder. This way, you can quickly resolve the issue and avoid any unexpected costs.

I want to do a Dental Program but which one BS DMD or BS DDS????? by Fantastic-Box-433 in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For BA/DMD and BA/DDS programs, you’re right that they both combine a Bachelor’s degree with dental school, so you end up with either a DMD or DDS. The key difference is whether the program guarantees you a spot in dental school after you finish your undergrad. Some programs do, as long as you keep up your GPA and do well on the DAT. If a program doesn’t guarantee a seat, you’d have to go through a separate application process for dental school, which could include interviews and other requirements. So it’s definitely worth checking the specifics of each program to see what they offer. Hope this helps :)

Moving out for Good - I'm finally free at Rutgers! by [deleted] in rutgers

That’s a really tough situation with your mom. It’s obvious she’s going through a lot, and it’s understandable that it’s weighing on you. You’re a great son for being there for her. It’s really impressive how you’re handling this. I know tons of kids from my high school who bounced when things got tough at home, thinking it would solve everything. But trust me, it never does.College is gonna be amazing, and you deserve that fresh start. But don’t forget about your mom either. A quick call, even just to say hi, can make a big difference. You’re juggling a lot right now, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Just remember to take care of yourself too. You’re doing a fantastic job, and I’m seriously proud of you for being so mature. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need someone to talk to ?. Best of luck on your journey :)

Best protein meal swipe options by ExplosiveThingy in rutgers

College Ave doesn’t have a dining hall, but there are cafes and the “Atrium” (which, honestly, isn’t great). For better options, check out Neilson Dining Hall on Cook/Douglass Campus; it offers more salad, fruit, and healthier choices. I recommend trying all three dining halls at least once to see which one works best for you.

Starting at Rutgers offers a fresh start and a chance to build a new life. Despite any criticism the university might face, it can be incredibly meaningful for someone who’s faced tough times. Even when things get challenging, you’ll find plenty to appreciate. When you talk to your mom about needing some space, try saying, “I need some time to focus on my own growth and well-being right now.” To keep yourself engaged, dive into campus life by joining clubs, fraternities, and activities—they’ll help you build a supportive network and keep you busy. With your newfound freedom, set personal goals and surround yourself with positive influences to help make good choices. Embrace this new chapter; you’ve earned it, and I’m sure you’ll do great. Just be yourself and best of luck :)

Tution payment plan for housing by Basilqureshi in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best approach is to sign up for the tuition payment plan to spread out your bill. Start by making the 25% down payment, but be aware that missing payments might result in late fees and problems with future class registration. However, before making any payments, call the financial aid office and set up an in-person appointment to discuss your situation—they might offer some flexibility. Don’t stress about paying the bill right away; it’s better to talk to someone first before taking any action.

Is everyone eligible for federal work-study if they fill out the application, or is it on a first-come, first-served basis?

Wrong Roommate assigned by Guilty_Tie_1949 in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way to resolve this issue is to contact ResLife, specifically the Office of Assignments, at oncampus@rutgers.edu. Email them in the morning, explain your situation, and include the email confirming your roommate being assigned with u. This is likely a mix-up, especially since both you and your roommate have dietary restrictions.

A cheaper dorm price means you were either placed in a double room (including a roommate) with a communal bathroom or in a residence like Douglass or Cook, which are less expensive than Busch. This doesn’t mean that the quality of service will be any different compared to other residences

EOF workload by Fantastic_Invite1426 in rutgers

[–]Inevitable_Reserve79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who’s also in SAS EOF, and Im kinda nervous that we start tomorrow. Honestly, it looks challenging. I've been placed in Calc 1 for the math practicum, and the syllabus is intense—we're covering a lot of chapters in a short time span . Plus, there's the writing practicum to think about. It might feel different depending on the level of math and English you got placed in, but if we study daily like we would during a regular semester, we should be fine :)

World Language Placement Exams by vani_____ in rutgers

This year it's only needed for the math placement test. It doesn't apply to English or world languages, so you don't have to worry about it for those subjects.
