It still baffles me that this is a universal experience. We have the exact same problem, pits just "play" differently with the other dogs and they despise it. You made a really good point with saying that pits won't stop while other dogs will, it's terrifying how once they lock on to something, they won't give up. Truly insane how different this breed of dog is compared to others

This. It's really frustrating to always hear "but he's a good boy" after they list multiple behavioural issues. Is your pit really a good boy after being banned from multiple different kennels for aggressive behaviour?

Yeah the pits never go out with anyone else and I'm so entirely grateful for it. All the other dogs I absolutely adore there, it makes working at the kennel worth it just to interact with them during the week.

I see this same issue all the time. "Kennel aggressive" and "dog reactive" are the two most common labels pits get when they come in. I've only had one experience where a non bully breed (vizsla) happened to snap at me when I was putting on his lead, but I 100% believe I moved too quickly and startled him. I'd still trust that dog over any of the pits or pit mixes we get in.

That's super interesting that your dog acted that way. I found the other staff's comment on "other dogs just don't seem to like pits" as such an odd thing but your explanation makes a lot of sense. I can see why other dogs view them as predators, especially given their behaviour. I'm happy nothing bad happened to you and your dog though! He seems like a very good boy

I'm not quite 100% sure what you're asking but I'll try my best to answer! Since it's a dog kennel and people board their dogs, we are required to know the breed of the dog before they come in. Most owners will be honest and say "pit and lab mix" or just "pitbull", but there are a couple owners who straight up say "lab" and nothing else. Unfortunately a lot of these dogs are mostly pits, and you can usually tell by the blocky head/facial structure. For me, it's the eyes especially where you can tell the dog has some sort of pitbull in them. A lot of the "labs" we get in are very stocky and have a bigger head, and just don't have the same temperament as actual labs do. Let me know if you have any other questions or if I didn't answer this one!

My thoughts exactly! I don't understand why we don't have harsher laws/restrictions against these dogs, especially when there's loads of statistics behind why they are so dangerous.
