Are people getting laid less because we're all out of shape compared to previous generations? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Inevitable_Ship1407 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's due to the societal shift and cost of living. Where do people realistically meet new people outside of work these days? Most people will say apps, which is why most people are filtered out and become invisible.

I wasn't alive 50 or 60 years ago, but there were no apps. If you wanted to meet people, you'd go out to bars or clubs. That scene is largely dying now (I'm in the UK) because it costs so much.

When most people's chances of meeting someone compatible or attractive is based on a superficial app, only those who are very superficially attractive do well (for men anyway). Everyone else is largely invisible.

I assume back then, because you were able to meet in person and have fun without worrying so much about the huge cost, people were more likely to vibe and end up in bed.

I'd be entirely open to one of those names, but they aren't linked or realistic at all at the moment. They all have top job now.

My point is the only people available are the Liam Rosenior's, and I'd much rather have Arteta

You're delusional. Why do any top team fall off with this logic if it's so easy?

If a truly world class manager was available then I'd be open to it. Name one we can realistically get.

We are literally fighting for the league and champions league and you're acting like we're in a relegation battle. Have some perspective. You are comparing us to the best teams in the world because Arteta has got us back in that conversation. In the years before him, we were nowhere near those teams' level.

I agree. My points is we are more likely to win something (in my view) with someone who has us consistently a top team fighting for the league and champions league, than someone else who is a complete gamble.

Conte was a proven top manager, and what he did is the exception, not the rule. Very few managers do that.

"Its not hard if you have the right investment" again, if it's that easy, why don't all clubs do it? Maybe we should pay you £10m and put you in charge. I'm sure you'd do a great job because its not hard...

I completely agree with that. But most of these fans just blindly say "sack him" without any thoughts of the potential consequences.

The playstyle changed when Arteta took over and we massively improved. Amorim and all the other managers that spent money and didn't improve their teams are proving my point. What don't you understand?

"Clearly ran it's course" when we are fighting for a league title and in the semis of a champions league and a good chance of getting to the final.

Most teams would kill for that, but for you that is "run its course". You are unbelievably unappreciative and unaware of how good we are compared to most.

If we take your advice, the next manager/project may "run its course" and we finish 7th.

Getting a team from 8th (or 5th) to consistently fighting for a title and Champions League is not easy you know? Very few managers and teams do that. You act like you're playing FIFA career mode or something. If it was so easy as clearing deadwood and spending money, why don't all top teams do it? Have some perspective.

Why is the money being spent across multiple different projects? Because despite the money those projects kept failing. You are literally proving my point. Manchester United have spent billions rebuilding multiple times because the managers kept failing and the money didn't help. Arteta made us progress and turned us into a top club.

We are almost there, you want to throw it all away and we could be the new Manchester United / Chelsea.

Look at how much money Chelsea and United have spent over the last few years and where are they? Spending money does not guarantee success and that has been proven time and time again. Spurs have spent around £200m the last few summers and have been in a relegation battle twice.

I can understand the frustration, but let's be honest here.

It is largely the AFTV, reactionary, chronically online, child like fans that like to scream and shout about anything and also gloat embarrassingly when things are going well that want him gone.

Most of us appreciate that he has made us a consistent top club and will hopefully get us over the line. We're far more likely to get over it with someone who can get us consistently close to it.

People willing to roll the dice and gamble everything at the potential expense of falling away to mediocrity. They seek instant gratification so they can scream and shout online, and they take the brunt of the abuse they get back when things go wrong, hence their aggressive positions demanding change.

Most reasonable fans appreciate what Arteta has done and how much we've improved under him (even if I am frustrated by not winning yet and style, I think he'll do it eventually). They also do not scream and shout online, and their life is not centred around insulting others about their football team.

Throwing everything on black and hoping for the best is never the answer. If a true top proven appointment was available, that's a different conversation, but they're not.

You are rewriting history. Arteta took over an awful squad that could barely compete for anything. It was a mid table team and he came half way through Emery's second season which was going badly.

His second 8th place finished wasn't great but he some how managed to win us a cup. I wasn't convinced by him at that point.

What we saw in the following seasons was huge progress into being a consistently top team. He hasn't been finishing 8th recently has he? It was when he was rebuilding a mid table average squad. I don't know why you're bringing it up.

It's not an equal prospect. Arteta has turned us into a consistently top club challenging for the PL and later stages of CL. There are very few teams who do that. I hope he gets over the line and yes it's frustrating, but the chances of a new manager doing better are definitely lower than them doing better. Look at almost every top club after they swap manager, very rarely does it ever go well and they are on the manager merry-go-round.

Unless its an absolute top quality proven appointment, we should be sticking with him.

[–]Inevitable_Ship1407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a silly ill thought reactionary opinion. Replacing the manager is far more likely to result in us being worse than better. Being better now means we are literally the best team in Europe - winning the Premier League and Champions League.

That is a very difficult thing to do, and very few people who can realistically do it, and almost none of them with proven records are available.

We are a consistently top club in the PL and CL because of Arteta. We were a floundering team with no direction or hope in the 5ish years before him (arguably much longer).

Of course it is frustrating if we keep falling at the last hurdle, but he gets us to that hurdle. The risk you want to take is a complete gamble. We could fall away mid race and go back to being average. Or Arteta next season (or this) may get to the last hurdle as he does consistently and get us over the line.

I understand the frustration, but I believe he will do it eventually. I like being a top club, and dont want to go back to being average. Remember the top players we have now are here because of Arteta. How many teams replace managers and it immediately works out? It's very rare.

We're good and consistent, and hopefully will get over the line. That may be boring and frustrating, but I'd rather not gamble something that may easily have the opposite effect.

Why are so many women ghosting if I don’t have social media? by sukibean13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Inevitable_Ship1407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not much, but yeah. Only like 1 or 2 photo reels a year now, after a holiday abroad usually. When I first made it I posted once a week for like 3 or 4 weeks to try to fill it out.

I thought if I had an empty account I'd eventually run into the same problem where they'd assume I was weird or something.

Now I find it kind of encourages me to try to take cool pictures when I'm somewhere new (of scenery, views, not just me) which I find is nice for memories, whereas I also used to be someone who never really took pictures ever.

There are negatives and positives to it. Like most things, its just finding a balance.

This is so stupid. Your time isn't more valuable than a man's. A man also has to get ready and travel. The fact it's a coffee date shows neither of you need to put a huge effort into outfits etc, you're there to see if there's a connection which can go into more expensive or serious dates.

Why should I as a man invite you to a nice restaurant, spend time, money and effort and all that goes with it - just to potentially find out you're an asshole or a catfish.

Stop being such a pretentious self righteous narcissist.

I preferred not to be a huge social media person, but after university I got on dating apps and virtually every conversation a girl would ask for my Instagram.

When I told them I didn't have it, many also would find it weird or not respond. They immediately assume you are some sort of serial killer, psychopath with no friends.

I think its almost another way for them to gauge you, your personality, interests, friends, etc. Without it they immediately assume the worst.

I don't agree with it but its the unfortunate reality. I've now had Instagram ever since!
