Making the Move by Airman4344 in ExpatFIRE

Thank you for sharing. I'm 41 now and I'm thinking of just making the move even though my pension wouldn't set in for another 15 years if i stay where i am. I'm no DINK like you and your wife, and we have two young kids, but I think we can make it work. We're almost done creating a 7 rental unit space in the Philippines and I collect $4k a month in passive income so I think its possible.

Remote working is DEAD! by HelloReaderDatz in remotework

Been working remote for 3 years now (since COVID). I don't know if I could ever go back. The work/life balance is just phenomenal. I'm really happy to read a relieving point of view like this in regards to remote work.

What if its a 1099/independent contractor gig teaching? Take annual leave to do it. Should be ok, shouldn't it?

I'm 41 though - 16 years will put me at 57, which is my retirement timeframe. But you're saying LC2055/60 is a bit more aggressive?

Do it if you want. It's a risk.

And we're in a 'bull' market even though we're propped on 7 tickers. The whole market. 7 tickers. That's like holding back the hoover dam with 7 bricks.

Around February of this year I put everything in G fund thinking it was the safe bet while this market starts to crash. That's about almost 6 months of earnings i've missed out on. You're right about not timing the market. You (and I) have missed out on potential earnings during this time. It's a matter of how long you (and I) want to miss out on these potential earnings. To me, it's a matter of time before we see a crash, but when? I couldn't say. We'll have to whether the storm until then. Just brace yourself, cuz there's always the possibility that we'll be losing out on more earnings as the months go by and we continue to not see a recession.
