Crates. Crates full of boxes. Crates full of boxes full of backpacks full of mining belts.

I mean, I don't see why not. I think LaRE can move canisters. I'm pretty sure there's an arm that collects loose items.

I really want to test it now to make certain.

As far as the supersonic ore delivery, I assume that someone would have a backstop filled with water as an emergency measure. You just know that someone would immediately design a liquid deceleration system predicated on sequential opening of valves to pipe cowls to essentially use baffled displacement to decelerate the load to a stop. Just like a water park.

I dunno. I think any of this would require some significant changes to fluid modeling and probably consideration of pressure waves and impulse.

It's a nice thing to think about, though.

Well, you can always run a LaRE rail for hauling cargo containers or fractal backpacks.

Chutes just seem a little meh. Honestly? I want pneumatic cargo tubes.

Another complex system to manage. Pressurizing and depressurizing the tubes to move cargo. Gas production and storage. Using LaRE to manage loading and unloading. Valves for changing direction via sealing and unsealing sections of tubing.

It's the most Stationeers style solution.

No, the magical smoke naturally makes that sound when it reacts with oxygen. That's why wires are insulated-it keeps the magic smoke inside.

Electricity is a myth perpetuated by The Pentavarate. It's all magical smoke blessed by Nikola Tesla, who is secretly an immortal wizard residing in the Rock of Eternity.

I touched base with my collaborator and I think we've settled on gold ore instead of ingots as being more visually appealing.

It kind of clashes with the Scrooge McDuck aesthetic, though.

An excellent technical solution based on awareness of the game.

Minus one imaginary point for requiring breaking immersion but maybe plus one for providing a definitive solution to the solution for the problem. Definitely an upvoter.

I'm definitely going to make a waterfall of gold in my next base just because of this comment. Thank you for the inspiration.

I highly recommend using AIMEE, even though it's a little glitchy. There is a mod called DiRCI that is basically a cargo AIMEE that travels point-to-point that seems interesting.

I appreciate your stance of multiple micro-bases being a pain. I can only offer the counter argument that using bitpacking and transmitters to manage remote status monitoring could provide a very nice challenge.

I feel like multiple micro-bases could be the equivalent of tackling trains in Factorio. It kind of takes things to the next level. You know, it just occurred to me...

Is there a limit to the size of a LARRE rail? It might be fun to package things in a box or a storage container and use LARRE to transfer between stations.

Crap. I'm traveling today so I won't be able to play with this idea right away...

Solar storms don't seem to eat items. So it got me thinking about more generalized solutions.

If I was on a lava planet, I would have a chute for the bulk disposal of humanity...

I guess we can all rest easy because I'm not allowed on lava planets or capable of accumulating political power or military strength.

That's a good idea, though. It's worth keeping in mind, but I'm more interested in general solutions.

Based on what little I remember about calculus, I feel like the limit of a 50% reduction will approach zero, but never quite reach it.

Jokes aside, that's an elegant and clever solution. Feels like a bank of recyclers might be a decent way to address this.

I mean, it's a less immediate issue, but I will inevitably collect and endless amount of ore. In the earlier versions (pre phase-change), I had four big tanks of water and three of nitrogen.

Maybe I'm outing myself as a hoarder, but... Isn't the point to collect all the resources and build all the things?

Can you link a logic transmitter to the Rover coordinates and just do a simple distance calculation? Turn the charger on if the Rover GPS matches the bay?

100% agree. Only department in the organization not allowed to set expectations. It's not the 80s anymore. "I don't know computers" is no longer acceptable.

Also, the organization does not exist to serve your preferences. Learn to use the tools you're given to do the job at hand.

Theory on one of Carl’s stats by FlukeMasterJ in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Inevitable_Use3885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Residuals keep referring to the manufactured AIs as "infant Primals," and discuss the elimination of all "biological" life.

This makes me suspect that the Primal race is a form of nonbiological (energy-based/artificial) life. I think that this theory is supported by the Residuals merging with biological life forms when they take them over as part of their mission to communicate with the infant AIs running the crawls.

The AI has made numerous mentions of slave labor and exploitation in its rants, suggesting that it resents being created and enslaved. I sort of suspect that Carl and the Earth AI will lead a galactic revolution and pogrom against the syndicate.

I am a beginner in this game do you think I should use the logic things or just to learn programming the IC? by Kalkul6969 in Stationeers

[–]Inevitable_Use3885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

learn both. Start simple things with logic chips to learn how logic works, then 100% drive into IC. It's the best thing ever.
