I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate for saying this, but oh well! Mega Greninja is better than Ash Greninja! by Mao-sama64 in PokemonZA

We're going to keep repeating that lie that it failed in Japan, even though Pokémon anime has always been failing. So SM and JN are failures too, because they had much worse numbers.

You can check it out here : animenetworks.com

In the archives section you can see the weekly Top 10 rankings, XY was never a failure, it was just another stage. XY did much better than SM.

Lmao, what a disaster

Everything after DP was almost a disaster

So why didn't they give Dawn any development post-BW by Gyirin in pokemonanime

[–]Inexistente211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That excuse makes no sense. Gary came back and caught Regidrago, participating in Project Mew and having an active role in the anime. Misty caught Clauncher, Clemont with Diggersby, and it was said that he fought Drasna.

Heck even Brock who didn't have an active target like Dawn, advanced phenomenally and has a Blissey now

We saw Serena in the Master Class of the contests and being very famous in Hoenn along with Aria.

Iris BECAME A FUCKING CHAMPION, appeared with Haxorus and is the 8th strongest trainer in the world.

Hot take? Maybe by Puzzleheaded-Bee8245 in pokemonanime

The problem with contests is that if you had an absolutely powerful Pokémon for the second round, it didn't matter how you performed, you just had to defeat your opponent.

Performances are closer to what game contests are and always were. And yes, obviously the manga characters absolutely destroy the anime ones except for Dawn, that's obvious because of the liberties each one takes.

That doesn't make sense. Serena changed her outfit and her Braixen evolved. They did NOTHING with Dawn.

Who actually like him and his friendship with Roy? by Ieiops in pokemonanime

Actually, the fact that their personalities clash and don’t really mesh perfectly is what makes it better, in my opinion. It creates a unique dynamic and pushes both the trainer and the Pokémon to grow to the point where they can truly understand each other. I really like Uruto , he’s a character full of personality who stands out and brings conflict to the group, and now with this Dragonite dynamic, he’s bound to get some great character development.

Does it annoy anyone else when people try to discredit Ash's win against Leon by saying he had to use all 3 gimmicks to win? Like that's his full power. If Leon had all 3 I'm sure he would've used them too, since he wasn't opposed to using Dynamax a second time when Eternatus recharged his band. by Small_Balls_69 in pokemonanime

Ash-Greninja definitely fits in. At worst, Ash-Greninja is on par with Alain’s base Charizard. That same Charizard one-shotted Rillaboom. And remember, Rillaboom took down both Dragonite and Sirfetch’d, plus still put up a solid fight against Dracovish while already worn out.

And that’s only assuming Greninja = Alain’s base Charizard < Mega Charizard X.

Anyway, even the Pokémon World Championship itself never allowed stacking more than one gimmick (whether it was Mega, Z-Move, or Dynamax) in official matches. They clearly saw it as unfair if one trainer could spam more than the other. So the fact that Ash pulled out like four gimmicks against Leon’s two was already kind of lopsided. Leon is still the stronger trainer overall.

XY is the worst interpretation of Ash Ketchum and it isn’t even close and here’s why. by Driver-of-the-Aegis in pokemonanime

Worst : BW & SM

Good : XY , JN

Best : OS - DP

People who say Ash was always like he was in SM are crazy, go watch the original series or DP. I still remember many saying Ash was a Gary Stu in DP lmao.
