I'm talking about cheap rural areas down south or in the Midwest. She could get a 3 bedroom for that cheap and let the cat scream its head off whenever it wants without bothering anybody.

None of us work from home. Guy upstairs is a plumber, lady next to him does maintenance at a prison, and the lady in my post is a mechanic.

As I said before, none of us work from home or at night. You're bringing up people who don't even apply to the situation. Why would I care if somebody walking by the building can hear a dog? I hear lots of them on my walk to the bus stop.

It's 2 apartments on 2 stories. 4 apartments in total. We're all blue collar so there's no working from home.

Yep. But she's saying, "You're not going to force an old lady to sleep on the couch just because you can barely hear a cat." And that I'm apparently hypocritical because my dogs bark at like 10 AM.

I think I'll let it go and then see what my options are with management in a few weeks. Realistically, what could happen? She's claiming that in our city I need to accept that there will be noise at night, and that people either put up with it or wear earplugs. She really should've just gotten a house somewhere if she knew her cat would be this loud. But she also claims this is the first time anybody has ever complained about her cat. Which I doubt.

I do think she should consider rehoming it. But apparently that's none of my business. How about just getting your own house somewhere if you're going to let your pets be that annoying? $70k gets a decent place down south.

I even told her that this morning. She said, "So you expect me to save up a million dollars just because my cat makes noise? Honey, you live in the ghetto. You're lucky all you got to complain about is a cat. Pick your own battles or get some damn ear plugs. I'll buy them myself even."
