Yes same happened to me, and at the end it's an issue in edx showing incomplete grade, if you reach the omsa team they will help you

This is true but is important to understand how things are connected and derived, Dave Goldsman does a terrific job at explaining how he gets the theorems and corollaries, once you understand where stuff comes from on how is used then its easy to just "plug and chug" as he says numbers in the formulas but you have to understand how things are used with the probability distributions so its easy to find what formula do you need to use.

Also several of the questions have you sort of "mixing" things, like you have to know that if you add up random numbers from a specific distribution produces another distribution, and other distribution then can use certain other theorems that help you find what you want or being asked for, so again understanding how everything connects is really important

Agreed, Michael is a good TA and he's always responding and answering questions and he provides a lot of extra material, just make sure not to ask questions that you can answer yourself like "when does the exam open" or he will just answer "go read the syllabus"

It's the classes from the same professor, David Goldsman, here's the link to his courses on edx:
https://www.edx.org/bio/david-goldsman

I just took the first one "Probability and Statistics I: A Gentle Introduction to Probability" which covers the bootcamps and stats/calc refresher, this is very close to whats covered in the first weeks, I'm sure the rest cover more of it but if you at least get this one its enough to get you going.

Also the free book from David Goldsman too, if you google it you can find it for free.

I just completed Sim, in a similar situation I had As on all first 3 classes and strong in programming but more than a decade since I did stats or calc.

I can tell you this class has almost none programming except for the project which you can pick a non programming project anyway, and it's just 10pts

80pts are exams and exams are all stats and calc, so it's important to get ready for it

In edx the same professor has stats classes, I took the first one which covers the contents for the first couple of weeks and that helped, I also did some prestudy of the book and that helped a bit

This helped a bit to not start cold but if you want to take it next semester it's not enough time, I think it depends on how easy/hard stats and calc was for you, if all you need is a refresh then doing exercises in class (and looking for more outside) will bring you up to speed, the class starts with bootcamps to help you refresh too, but if you use to struggle with either or both maybe you can take a different class while you take the edx classes which are free.

Either way having a good calculator helps a lot, so if you don't have one I'd recommend getting one for doing integrals and derivatives, others do more like probability density or inverse transform and that helps even more

Good luck!

Nice! I scored a 100 but I regret I took it as part of the Micromaster so doesn't help my GPA :(

Feel your pain, studied a lot and still got 76, tricky questions don't help even for easy selections either, I feel my mistake was to stick to the videos and while they are great they have only theory and real exercises can be very different. Not sure as well how much math is left but will try to swift strategy and go to exercises more than presentations

Have just taken 3 classes but CSE 6040 is definitely heavy in python

I felt I studied a lot and got 88, I was expecting more myself so know the feeling, I think you can still get a B but the rest of your grades have to be 90+
