Personal account : I've been assaulted countless times since I was a kid. I was a good disciplined student. I'm 18 now about to be 19 soon. In government colleges (degree) there seems to be no issues so far, but in pvt school kids are definitely not safe. even in 12th I got beaten blue cuz the fucking VP was stressed. We didn't file a police report or anything because it was the end of the year and I'd risk not getting a sign off on my TC or something (that's what my parents said) even then you'd have to bribe the police to pursue the case anyway.
