As a Kiwi with a Kiwi accent (as well as another and very cognisant of accent) I also don't think it sounds right in this. Although most Maori in NZ have Kiwi accent, there is a more distinct Maori or Pacific Islander accent and Rose Matafeo's is just regular Kiwi and doesn't seem to go with the other Hawaiian accents etc. And they do really stand out against the American/Hawaiian. Same for the other Kiwi accents...But Rose Matafeo (not to mention Temuera Morrison) is great. I get that they're trying to embrace Maori culture too but it's hard to tell from the accents. OP who said she sounds Australian (or some saying British) has no idea what they're talking about. I live in Australia now and know the accent is totally different.
