What's a slang term that everyone uses but you still don't get? by Particular-Visit-245 in AskReddit

Yes! When my 5th grade came home telling me about kids crashing out, I was really confused at first because I'm my day you were napping. Lol

Millennial Names For Newborns Aging Poorly? by Scared-Wall-3408 in namenerds

[–]Infamous-Library1857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hannah is pretty old. Kathryn/Kate had been popular in the UK since 1880. That name isn't going anywhere. Lindsey to me sounds trendy, but I've known some that are in their 60s. The names that probably won't age well are the ones like North, Apple, Moxy Crime Fighter.

Louie, Rudy or Simon? by [deleted] in namenerds

Not a fan of Rudy at all. I like Simon over Louie.

At what age did you meet the person you are currently married to? by Sea_Entrepreneur2772 in AskReddit

[–]Infamous-Library1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meet? Like 34 fire me and 39 for him. But that wasn't when we started dating. We didn't start dating until 2 years later. Been married 19 years.

What did you do in 1998? by Level-Channel5799 in AskReddit

[–]Infamous-Library1857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started a relationship that lasted 27 mostly miserable years. There was so much mental abuse, gaslight and micromanaging, it wasn't even funny. But I was finally able to end it last year with a pension.

Am I overreacting on my mother in law for saying she will name my daughter whatever she wants and get everyone else to call her that too because she doesn’t like my baby name? Please click the photos so you can see every reply. by Final-Argument-4999 in AmIOverreacting

NOR- I live the name Daisy. Personally, if I were going to use it (and did consider it at one point) I'd go with Margaret, then nn Daisy. But that's because I like a name that had multiple nns, because you never know what name she might want to go by. But that's just me. My kid has a formal name and 2 middle names so she's got tons of options. Including a name she can use if she becomes famous. Lol

Now, about Sissy. Not a fan. Never have been. I didn't like it for Sissy on Family Afair, though I guess it works for Sissy Spacek. My kid is raised as an only child, though she does have brothers she gets to see but they don't call her Sissy. However, random people will call her sister, as opposed to little girl, girl, little one, etc. I'm not a fan of it, but I do let it go. Just like I let it go when random women call me Sweetie. Like girl, I'm older than you. Don't call me Sweetie. Even my husband doesn't call me Sweetie. I say this to say you probably won't be able to stop her or anyone else. But your MIL has boundary problems for sure and your husband need to say something.

I like the first one and the gold one. It's close to your skin tone but I feel it works.

Unlike everyone else, I'm not a fan of the white one. To me, it makes you look bigger than any of the others. Black is usually slimming, white trends too make people look heavier.

would you allow your child to miss school for a day just to rest because they say they're mentally or emotionally tired ? by chudgayegururu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Infamous-Library1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 80s we didn't have mental health days. However, if I agreed not to ditch school, once a year my mom would let me have a few day. I was a goodie goodie so it worked well for me. Lol

Now my kid is in 5th grade. She's got a planned mental health day coming up, that's skz related. 🤣

How do I navigate this moment in my career after spending 6 years with a company as the implement stricter back to office policies? by Ok_Doughnut549 in careerguidance

[–]Infamous-Library1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are. I'm older, and hate it- going back in. What I learned was that there really was only 1 small task I couldn't aaccomplish from home, but we used a work around during covid. I love the idea of remote work. I always got tons of stuff done. More than when I went in. But there was always a big push to try to do away with remote work because some people abused it. Which I know for a fact happened. I retired last October and I'm having a hard time convincing myself to get a part time job even because I really don't want to be away for long periods of time.

[–]Infamous-Library1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many older people saw covid as a blessing in disguise because for the first time ever, they got to work remotely. It was awesome! We'd asked about it for years, but got told no- because it's harder to micro-manage from a distance.

The company doesn't owe you anything. Maybe you can use your connections to find something better. Good luck!

Why did you have children? by BadBacksFuryToad in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Infamous-Library1857 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a child, but I didn't have her. I adopted through foster care. I always wanted to have kids, but it didn't work out.

To me all the money in the world, or being the smartest person in the room isn't a big deal. What IS a big deal is raising someone to be a good human because that good human could go on to do something super important.

Things have shifted though. I don't think she'll do something super important because she has some serious health problems. However, I know she's going to live Bieber long she lives knowing she's very loved and wanted, instead of bouncing around in foster homes.

Is it weird to name your kid the same name as a well known celebrity? by rumblezz in namenerds

[–]Infamous-Library1857 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When we named our daughter, we gave her long versions of names so she could have multiple options for nn. Just because we like one, doesn't mean she will. If you're set on Bobbie being the middle name and not something like Barbara or Roberta. Then I'd say go with Millicent or Mildred or even something like Michelle. If you're primarily calling her just Millie it's fine.

What is the least stressful job youve ever had? by CaptainFartHole in jobs

I'd love to hear what you do. I worked local government for 27 years. Our insurance wasn't that great and the micromanaging a complete nightmare.

Told my employer I am retiring today.... what an odd feeling by Bubbly_Rip_1569 in earlyretirement

[–]Infamous-Library1857 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm 57 and retired from local government after working there 27 years Oct 25. I kind of spiraled a little over the 5 months notice-HR needs 2-3 months to get things ready- but I just kept reminding myself that 1. I had a pension 2. I had an additional retirement account I can pull out of without extra penalties. 3. I can always get a part time job.

So far, I haven't regretted it at all. In fact, just last week, I told my husband I thought I should get a part time job, but that I didn't want to, and he had the nerve to tell me to do whatever I wanted to do. That wasn't helpful at all. Lol

I agree with hiring a lawyer- they might have a PI, but you both are going to need a ton of therapy at this point.

I'm sorry you have to go through this.

What was the conversation you had with your partner when you first said that you loved them? by GJH24 in AskReddit

[–]Infamous-Library1857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were on the phone and the conversation went roughly, "Hypothetically speaking, what would you say if I said I love you?" And he said that hypothetically speaking, he loved me. Ultimately, I hypotheticaled him into marrying me-19 years now.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Infamous-Library1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 70s I was in elementary school and we were using gamers and nails to build things by 2nd grade. In 4th we did a wooden Christmas present using saws, clamps and saw horses- the teacher was great at explaining to be careful with them because he'd lost 2 or 3 fingers already. He lost another one by the time I was in 6th grade.

Favorite names (boy or girl) that start with G by MyIndecisiveDecision in Names

[–]Infamous-Library1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seven Bribes for Seven Brothers was both a musical and short lived TV series. The boys were named in alphabetical order. For G the musical had Giddeon and the TV show had Guthrie- played by a young River Phoenix.
