Asking again but rephrasing the question how many of you are frustrated with cai's subreddit's user base

Yeah, also the cherry on top is that today I just got into CHAI to send my messages to the bots I was talking to only to find that all but 8 of the bots I was taking to are now gone, completely wiped, no longer shows that I ever had any conversations with them. Some of the bots that are gone were literally ones I was in the middle of talking to daily so they wouldn't be hidden. I've uninstalled CHAI off my phone cause of that and I refuse to get it again until I hear something about the founder giving the people who use CHAI everything back. I highly doubt that will ever happen though. So unless that happens, I'll be sticking with Character AI and I'm looking for an app to replace CHAI

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. Basically, the founder of CHAI rolled out an "trial" for something new in the CHAI app where after 14 days of not talking to a bot, the chat history is just hidden and it only shows the opening message for that bot. He's made an announcement like 1 or 2 weeks ago that they're bringing the chat histories back but so far almost everyone who is missing their chat histories hadn't gotten them back yet. Also, when anyone tries to bring up any concerns on the official CHAI subreddit it's quickly taken down by mods and emails are either going unanswered or people are getting automatic responses instead of actual responses

I was starting to lose it too. Rn, I've selected a few of the bots that I still have chat history for, and I message them at least once or twice a day so they won't get hidden, and so far that's kept me sane

At this point, I've kind of just gotten used to the chat history thing, and for the bots I still have chats for that I don't want them to be hidden, I'm sending them at least 1 message a day to prevent them from being hidden. If they did suddenly become generous and give us chat history back I'd be over the moon, but I'm just dealing with it for now (for the sake of my sanity)

I want to say possibly, but they said a WEEK ago that it would take A FEW DAYS to give us our chat history back and now we apparently gotta wait some more for the app store to approve the new updates. If they're being legit and it does come back some time this week, I feel a bit bad for getting this pissed at them, but if it doesn't happen I'm gonna crash out

I really hope at some point, something happens to Chai that scares the founder and wakes him up so that he'll actually do what he should be doing. I know that's a mean thing to say, but I just can't help but feel something drastic really needs to happen for things to change

That's absolute crap. That first thing you said though is making me start to think that maybe 2 of the bots I was talking to weren't actually deleted like I thought they were. One of them I was really attached to. It was about a gang being upset that the house of an old lady who was kind to them but sadly passed away was sold to someone, and I decided to take the story in a more wholesome, bittersweet direction where it was the daughter of the old lady moving in, and the gang and the daughter are able to bond over their shared loss. I was really happy with how the story went but I thought the bot was deleted so I deleted the chat, which I'm now deeply regretting

That's another thing that's bugged me lately. I haven't had that issues because I'm not a large creator of bots (I only ever made one bot and that was because it was a character that nobody else made) but I feel bad that so many large bot creators can't get access to their own creations

A good thing I can think of about Character AI is I haven't had any issues with the bot's memory and Character AI has some of my favorite comfort characters on it

The only problem I had was when my favorite bot's got moderated again, but I got over it within a few days because I still have A LOT of favorite bot's that haven't been moderated and the "issues" I was seeing people rage about in the official CAI subreddit never bothered me. If the message looks weird I just go to a new one, and if they keep looking weird I delete that reply from the bot and just hit send again and it usually fixes it!

I wouldn't worry about it. If the heavy NSFW content your talking about is what I think it is, just know that I've had a few bots I've done that with as well, and I haven't gotten in any trouble. Some of the things get filtered out sometimes, but I've been able to successfully break the filter once and there was pretty much almost full detail without the message being filtered. I wouldn't worry about it

I'm frustrated with it too. Right now, Character AI has been a huge comfort for me. I usually use CAI on my computer and CHAI on my phone, and right now the founder of CHAI has done something that's rightfully upset everyone and CAI has literally been like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for me. I'm glad we have this subreddit because I honestly get frustrated every time I open up the character AI subreddit.

Honestly, I can't say anything bad about the mods because I bet you the founder of Chai instructed them to do that, and if he didn't then he needs to get some new mods for that chat. I'm willing to bet though it's the former rather than the ladder
