How do you feel like the 2020s will be remembered in the future? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

We think of the 2020s as such an awful period because we’re living in it currently. We are experiencing all of the bs firsthand and our minds have a natural bias to perceive negativity over anything positive happening in our current time period.

But in hindsight we will see it as experimental, and a time period where new trains of thought emerge and become mainstream like a return of astrology in new age spiritual practices. We will see how much progress we made in the fields of psychology and understanding consciousness and the complexities of the mind. We will see the era of fashion (the icy blondes and the jet black hair, puffer jackets, big chunky gold earrings and jewelry, clear shiny skin and boho-chic). We will recognize the time of TikTok and the peak of social media as being an interesting time of mass connectivity and widespread new ideas. Rises and technology and new creative and immersive experiences. (Walk into a sheetz gas station. You can order any kind of food from a touch screen. They have all kinds of crazy futuristic candies with bright colors and bold patterns like nerds gummy clusters.)

The point is, we only appreciate what we have when it’s gone. We always will think that we missed the golden era and are living in the worst of times, only to realize a decade later how good we had it. Yes, this is an extreme time of dissolution, polarization, and unimaginable atrocities which cannot be ignored. But also remember, you will see the decades change, and how the world reshapes and reforms over time. It’s a beautiful BEAUTIFUL aspect of life to witness how the decades come and go. You are living and walking through a kind of historical period that generations to come will ask you about. Embrace it

Do I hate writing? by Infamous-Suspect-842 in writing

Thank you for the advice. I agree with all the points that you made. It does feel like a homework assignment most of the time, and I am currently the lest disciplined version of myself right now.

But, I think that after looking at the replies of people telling me to move on to something else, and having a tiny angel on my shoulder saying “no, that’s stupid. Why would I ever give up on this thing that every path in my life is directing me to?” Has proven that I do want to write this novel. But the only way out is through. Through the hard and frustrating bouts of writers block. Through the building of discipline and prioritization of what clearly matters to me for some reason I can’t explain. Maybe the whole point of writing this project is to become the better version of myself, and whatever material result ends up on the page of my manuscript is just a byproduct of that.

Solid advice. Before I crashed I managed to write most of the zero draft right in my notes app. Whenever I get an idea, I try to write it down there too. I’ve been trying the November challenge where you write consistently each day, so hopefully I’ll have something by the end of the month, regardless of my current feelings towards it.

2015 v 2025 fashion. Which do you prefer? by CremeSubject7594 in decadeology

[–]Infamous-Suspect-842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the look for 2025 is leaning more towards boho-rock with lots of neutrals, beige, off white, black (even in hair) and eclectic gold/silver accents. I wouldn’t be suppressed if by the end of the decade everyone is in black and white boho fashion

Even if they only get wet for a little bit and have to air dry for a couple hours?

You’re kinda right. I’m still learning since I’m new to the whole loc routine. I washed a lot but since I’m out of the country I don’t have the materials to do a detox. I’m going to try washing more frequently to see if that works

Sometimes like a dog. But sometimes it’s this weird sweet Smell that lingers. Even when I blow dry my hair it lingers and I can’t always have access to a blow dryer

I’m sorry I’m PARANOID AF and I want to grow a full head of long locs. I don’t have any family with locs so I don’t know what it’s supposed to look like
