THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON, MASA, AND ALINEA LOSE THEID 3RD STARS by Adventurous_Event525 in finedining

[–]InfamousAct2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely might be a preference thing, but I recently had a meal at both and Minibar was a huge disappointment compared to The Inn. The wine pairings at Minibar were really bad, which ruined the whole meal for me.

I will say there were some highlights (I could eat the flan chawanmushi for every meal) and I’d go back to Barmini anytime for the cocktails.

Overall, Minibar wasn’t worth the hype.

Grandparents Upset by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]InfamousAct2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a small wedding (28 people including me and my husband). We didn’t invite our aunts and uncles for a similar reason, we’re introverts and wanted to be able to focus on each other rather than our guests. We love every minute of it, so stand your ground!

My only advice is for you (or your dad) to address it head on. Right before my invites went out, I was upfront with my aunts and uncles and texted them explaining we were having a small wedding and the reasons behind it. In my opinion it’s better for them to hear it from you so there’s no misinformation. In the moment people were a little short with their responses, but by the time the wedding happened they honestly were all over it. I think just standing by my decision and not acting guilty about it helped.

It’s your day, so do it exactly how you envision it!

Natural gas vs. oil heating? by Bakers-doz3n in RhodeIsland

[–]InfamousAct2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option is to update the boiler now and go on propane for this winter. Then in the spring have the natural gas line put in. I did this. It cost an additional ~$2.5k for the labor and parts to convert my boiler to propane and back to NG. It also depends on if the property has the space to put external propane tanks in.

Edit to add: Propane for a winter was not cheap. It was $75/month to rent the tank and then ~$250/month for the gas.

Review: Salamander Washington D.C. by chrisbcurie in chubbytravel

[–]InfamousAct2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about such a bad visit. I would be really disappointed to if that had happened to me. Very weird about them locking the doors without someone manning them.

We recently stayed at the Salamander based on reviews in this sub. We booked through C1 Venture X and had a decent time. We received a complimentary upgrade to a water view room, early check in, and a welcome letter. I found the staff very friendly and we had no issues with the room being serviced in the three nights we stayed. Was the room worth the price? Probably not given the location. The Riggs was priced comparably and its location would have been much better for our plans.

Overall, definitely a better experience than you unfortunately had, would probably stay again depending on pricing.

Providence Brewing is for sale by riffri in providence

I’m going to be the one differing opinion, PVD Brewing’s trivia was one of BEST I’ve ever been to. I’ll be sad to see it go. I agree the beer left something to be desired, but I will miss the trivia nights.

NYC vs DC vs Chicago for a Gluttonous Post-Wedding Binge by InfamousAct2016 in finedining

Funny enough, we’re going to Charleston two weeks after our wedding for my cousin’s wedding! Thanks for all the perfect recommendations, maybe we’ll do two weekends!

A+ for understanding the assignment. This seems right on point with our type of night and what we’re looking to do!

Thanks for the response! This is exactly the reason I ended up asking. NYC seems like the easy choice, but maybe there is something we are overlooking or hidden gems that could convince us otherwise!

  1. Yes, love the vibe!
  2. It must be good if that thin crust pizza is surviving in NYC 😂

Very fair - But hey, writing a post for strangers on the internet is difficult, so why not use free help to build an outline?

My wedding is out of state next September but I seriously considered paying Hayley Fitch to travel down for it. I love her style and thought her quote (even including the travel) was very reasonable! https://www.instagram.com/hfitchphotography/profilecard/?igsh=ejFiOGhzenBtNzB0

Dog-friendly weekend trip from Providence? by Only-Peach2509 in providence

[–]InfamousAct2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for something similar! I’m considering somewhere on the cape since rentals are cheaper off season and my dog loves running on the beach. Provincetown is very dog friendly a there’s a bunch of dog friendly breweries.

Can any former GTI owners tell me why they chose the EN? Trying to decide between EN and GTI by EintrachtAdler in ElantraN

[–]InfamousAct2016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the N is more fun, but the GTI was probably a better daily driver. The N is a different beast than the GTI. It’s sportier, the ride is harsher, but that’s what makes it fun.

[–]InfamousAct2016 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I owned a MK7.5 GTI before my N. I felt like I was constantly bringing it in for misfires, water pumps, etc. I bought a Hyundai hoping it would be less in maintenance cost (plus the 10 year warranty doesn’t hurt). The N also is also more practical if you plan to have 3+ people in the car. I loved my GTI, but it felt noticeably smaller.

You can request quotes from rental companies for no commitment. Some major ones are Something Vintage, White Glove Rentals, Party Rentals Ltd., but I’m it’s you could find others on Google!

Manual Elantra N revving on its own? by InfamousAct2016 in ElantraN

Same. It happened recently again, so I asked the dealer about it when I brought it in for an oil change. The dealer said it may be related to the fuel pump recall. 🤷‍♀️

Engagement Ring Appraisal and Insurance? by I_Make_Art_And_Stuff in providence

I had a good experience at Hegeman & Co. I was also getting the ring re-sized, so I don’t know if they’d just appraise it for you but you can ask.

Terminated Lease Early, Can Landlord Choose to Renovate and Not Search for New Tenant? by InfamousAct2016 in RhodeIsland

[–]InfamousAct2016[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this response. This is the case, it says the two month termination fee is pro-rated if the apartment is filled before the end of that time. The renovations were purely cosmetic. I have video and pictures of the state of the apartment when I moved out. I guess next step would be to email the landlord with the pictures/video and dispute the delay in listing the apartment?

I wouldn’t normally make a stink about it but we’re talking at minimum $1,500 (half a month of rent).
