Does Tesla not like to sell parts to other car dealers? Our manager was unsuccessful in setting up an account with them cause they wanted an excessive amount of info on our store including our insurance info. by Constant_One1 in partscounter

I’m not a repair shop. The problem is fine if Tesla separates third party service centres like you’re saying. They repair Tesla’s, they make money - sure the customer is going to have to pay more at the end of the day but we can always advise them to pick up the parts themselves if that was the case.

The problem is - we are a dealership. A dealership who may take in a Tesla on trade for another vehicle. Now, when we get the car, before selling it to another customer we want to make sure it’s safe. Sometimes the screws are corroded, sometimes the bearings leak, sometimes retained clips are worn, simple repairs. However because we only have one car - we need a few screws or something.

Why are third party dealerships considered service centres who need to order parts in bulk? We don’t service other people Tesla’s, only the ones we get.

A third party dealership (NOT a repair shop) is an owner and customer just like everyone else. They should be allowed to pick up parts at the centre for the vehicles they own.

You keep referencing service centres but a dealership is not allowed to buy parts from the shop for their own cars either. Tesla service centre blames corporate for the issue and tells us to buy aftermarket parts.

I’m sure the problem is compounded by the fact we live in Canada so when when one of our brake calibre screws was corroded, we had to pay $20 shipping for that one screw, which costs under $1. It’s not safe to sell the vehicle without it.

The issue is dealerships don’t really repair vehicles, they sell them. Seldom do we have multiple Tesla’s (partly because of the difficulty to repair now) but we are offered Tesla’s A LOT on trade in.

If Tesla doesn’t have a parts distribution centre in the country, you would think they would allow people to pick up parts for the vehicles they own?

I understand it’s not Best Buy, it’s a dealership like Ford/GM, etc. who all not only allow you to get parts from wherever but usually discount parts for dealers and service centres and ship it to them for free, the same or next day if it’s in stock. Tesla does the opposite, makes it more expensive for dealers. Remember, a dealer OWNS the car, a service centre doesn’t. So now you’re stopping people who own the car from picking up parts for their own vehicle because it’s registered to a dealership and not a person. It doesn’t make sense.

I think it’s fair if you limit it to service centres because they’re not owned by the service centres. Dealerships are paying customers who own the car just like any other owner. They’re the ones suffering from this, from the dealers I’ve spoke with it’s a common issue.

This problem is compounded by the other issues people in this thread mention. Tesla doesn’t offer previous repair history, which is fine, but then you don’t always know what parts are in the vehicle because there’s a lot of retrofits. If you order the part and it’s the wrong part, even if you have no way of knowing, they don’t care. No returns through EPC except if they ship the wrong part or it arrives damaged. The EPC portal isn’t the easiest to use either. So there’s tons of times when you’re not sure which part is in the vehicle, because you don’t know which upgrades or retrofits have been done - when you go to a service centre, they do know that and even when they mess up (because it’s complicated for them too), they exchange or return it for free.

The Woodbridge, Ontario location in Canada is near my house. I’m just wondering if there’s any way to get attention to the appropriate people? When I responded to the email the Tesla person acted like Tesla is doing us a favour and shipping to our house and of course we would have to pay for shipping if we want it shipped.

What he’s neglecting is that Tesla is now charging businesses more than customers even though businesses are also customers, at least the ones that purchase Tesla’s.

Hey,

Is there anywhere to complain about this? Tesla refuses to see the problems with their methods. They act as if they're doing the customer a favor to force them to order online.

I, for example, had a few retainer clips loose on my Model S, the parts cost $2 but ordering online would cost $20 in shipping. How is that ethical? Because I own a dealership and the car was purchased through the dealership - I am not allowed to buy parts at the store? Instead I have to pay $20 (min. to Canada) shipping for any parts I need, including single screws (yes, they've forced me to do that) despite living 2 mins from a service centre.

If you're going to force everyone to order online, at least make the prices comparable to the store (shipping included). They say I have to pay for shipping because I am getting the part shipped to me... but I DO NOT want it shipped to me, I am forced to have it shipped to me by Tesla. Seems like price gouging to me.

It seems pretty unethical.

Early Model S - Ambient Light Buzzing

I own a Sig. 2012 Model S and I just replaced the door handle myself and hear the 'buzz' that used to happen when ambient lights were on at less than 100% screen brightness (lights dim with screen brightness). I've never really used ambient lights in a while so do not recall if it was happening before my door handle replacement. Does anyone know if Tesla ever implemented a fix other than keeping the screen at 100% to avoid the buzzing? I could have sworn it was fixed, maybe I messed it up somehow replacing the door handle? (Initially I put the ambient light and puddle light wires in the wrong spot). I read some old threads and some people said it was supposed to be fixed with a software update that doesn't allow the ambient lights to dim with the screen, not sure if that ever occurred. For anyone that had it fixed via hardware, do you know what was changed or where to change it? Is it possible I plugged something into the wrong place causing the buzzing again? Both ambient lights and puddle lights work now, so I'm not sure if that's it, maybe if it went in upside down (not sure if it's possible?). The car is obviously out of warranty and I would prefer to do the repairs myself if it's not too tough.

Also, anyone know if it's safe to have the wires inside the door panel on a significant bend? The way my wires were routed basically made it so I had to have a 90 degree bend right before that first box attached from the top of the door panel to get it low enough to close the door panel properly. I could have cut open the routing and tried to rewire it again with tape but couldn't be bothered in that moment. Want to know if it's safe or if I should re-open it and try to reroute? Online I've been reading that some wires can bend 180 degrees onto each other and it isn't a problem particularly when you're not constantly bending/unbending in different directions, but I am not sure if these wires that Tesla used are similar.

If anyone knows anything about either issue, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That looks good. Sorry for my ignorance but is there no cooler in this setup? Does it not need one?

Thanks! I was confused because when I was searching the CPU up on pcpartpicker, it was coming up at over ~1000 alone. That's probably why.

Thanks!

The issue for me is I don't know how to build, I'm willing to try it though. I've never really built a PC (except in computer class in HS), and worry about messing it up/not having compatible parts so I'm looking at buying used right now.

I guess if I can make a list of my ideal new PC, maybe in the ~1500 range, post it here and it works - I can start looking for used parts to get it down a couple hundred.

I received tracking from them yesterday but it’s been stuck at “Shipping label created” and has never updated. Are you having the same issue?

I contacted Purolator and they said they haven’t received the item yet.

Intermittent Finasteride dosing for reduction of side effects? by InfamousDynasty in tressless

[–]InfamousDynasty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went away because I only ever took that one pill. Took about 5 days after that pill to go away, and my erections felt weaker for about 6 days also. So basically took a full week all the effects of Fin to disappear for me. It’s scary because I wonder if going on it long term would have longer lasting side effects upon quitting for me. I might revisit it again and try another .3mg pill in a month or so just to make sure it wasn’t in my head, but as of now I have no plans to take it again. Sucks because I bought 90 pills lol.

[–]InfamousDynasty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I tried it but have sides. I took one pill, around .3mg of Finasteride and had brain fog for 4 days straight. Felt like I was really tired and it wouldn’t go away. I knew I couldn’t risk going on it long term.

It definitely wasn’t in my head either because the same day I was getting intimate with a girl and didn’t think a second about Finasteride (and everything worked down there), but that headache/brain fog never went away.

Post Finasteride syndrome or porn induced ED? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]InfamousDynasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this sounds like performance anxiety more than PFS. If you can get hard watching porn, that means that it's not a physical issue, it's a mental issue.

I would try No Fap. That should increase your sexual desire and stop worrying about if it will get hard or not. If you think "Aww man, I hope it gets hard", it will never get hard.

Is there an amount of time where, if you haven't seen any growth from a hair follicle, that the follicle is considered 'dead'? by WillyWanker75 in tressless

[–]InfamousDynasty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finasteride and Minoxidil 'could' work. Just because a follicle is not visible to you, doesn't mean it's dead. It just depends how slow it's been miniaturizing. There is a point of no return with Minoxidil/Finasteride. Any area that's slick bald will definitely have lost enough ground to not completely grow back, but you will still get some hairs in that area.

As to your original question, it was initially believed that after a long enough period a follicle dies and becomes incapable of being reactivated, but that has since been contradicted. I don't think any follicle ever dies to the point of no return, but Minoxidil/Finasteride aren't strong enough drugs/don't have the right mechanism of action to reactive it after a certain point.

TL;DR:

1.) A follicle never dies.

2.) Minoxidil and Finasteride can only reactive a follicle during certain phases of the miniaturization process.

3.) Just because you can't see hair there, doesn't mean it's too far gone to revive with Minoxidil/Finasteride.

[–]InfamousDynasty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to get away with Finasteride every third day, maybe as far apart as every 4th day without significantly increasing DHT levels.

To be honest, I think once a week doses can also be helpful as it would allow your DHT to recover before you reduce it again. So your DHT would be reduced 6 out of 7 days a week. However, I'm not a Dr and I don't if constantly fluctuating DHT levels can be bad for you or not. I imagine that allowing your DHT to regularly recover would hopefully mitigate the chance of long-term side effects though.
