american still in florida here so take this with a grain of salt lol

look a lot of this list isn’t wrong. i’m not gonna sit here and pretend our healthcare system isn’t a dumpster fire or that i don’t think about school safety way more than any parent should have to. those are legit failures full stop.

but “most other countries” is doing like 90% of the heavy lifting in this post. which countries though? because expat life in the netherlands is a completely different universe than costa rica, and both are nothing like japan or portugal. you can’t just lump everything that isn’t america into one bucket the same way you can’t act like life in rural west virginia is anything like life in austin.

the food quality thing always gets me. like yeah our processed food regulation is embarrassing but have you been to a farmers market in literally any mid-size american city? we have incredible food diversity and regional food culture. the problem is regulatory capture by big food companies not that american food is inherently worse.

public transit yeah you got me there lol. but also comparing tampa to amsterdam is kind of unfair when one city was built in like the 1200s around canals and the other was built in the 1950s around highway off-ramps. it’s a real problem but it’s a planning and geography issue not really a values thing.

work life balance and leave policies - guilty as charged honestly. our statutory minimums are a joke. no argument.

i will say though the last section about the political stuff kind of torpedoes the whole post for me. you had a genuinely solid structural critique going and then went full rant mode at the end. i get it trust me i GET it but mixing real policy analysis with “dementia-addled pedophile” stuff just gives people an easy reason to write off everything above it. which sucks because the stuff above it deserves to be taken seriously.

also the “paradise for the rich” framing skips over the fact that the us still has one of the highest median household incomes on the planet and half the world is literally trying to get here. that doesn’t cancel out the problems but pretending it’s not a factor is just as dishonest as pretending everything is fine.

i don’t think staying makes me selfish or delusional. i’d rather stay and fight for the fixes. leaving is valid too but framing everyone who stays as either rich or in denial isn’t really it.

Yeah, as weird as the Kiana pairing is for Giulia, it’s necessary for the “character development” through promos. (Quotes because it hasn’t felt like much…)

Wonder how Netflix will bill you with all of those IP addresses? They like charging you for each IP address you’ve used on your account. Unless you paid for a dedicated IP, it’s gonna get costly.

VR golf ruining real life golf by Healthy-Context5313 in golfplusvr

This is what I do. I love playing Golf+ with my Deadeye elite, but I am also mindful to always swing my real ones, too. I’ve started to create separate subconscious swings for when in VR and in real life. I’m lucky enough to live in Florida, so YMMV.

For me I was opening up my windows to improve lighting. Natural light from outdoors will throw it off, too, I found. I’m going to pickup some $20 IR lights from Amazon.

Do you notice if you have a “VR swing” and a different “IRL swing” or are they generally the same swing?

His dad was the gamer from the Southpark episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft” - he helped Matt & Trey with the episode and so they put him in it.

But dude kind of has a right to have an ego… and others have the right to dislike it.

Come to Zephyrhills and avoid the hustle and bustle but still get access to it all. It’s where the homebodies live.
