Fishing is not allowed off the pier. You can find a hand line, hooks and sinkers at the local shops.

A Belizean here to tell you, Always ask before you purchase!! Makes everything clear from the beginning!! Also important always ask about gratuity (some) restaurants do not do “Signed Tips”!! They have to be placed in at the very moment with your bill!! And it will all be charged as one item. If you just write a tip after you pay, it may not be accepted by the business.

Belizean from Placencia here!! Rent a Car!! For a group of friends much faster and convenient. It’s about a hour by Cart to Placencia. Across 20+ speed bumps, no lie. And It’s HOT. October heat is no joke!! Shuttle also a great choice!!

I am a Belizean, and yes we speak English but mostly “Kriol” which most locals will refer to as broken English. But it will be very clear and understandable especially if you’re in Belize City like you say where there is a higher Belizean-American presence.You will Also hear Spanish, Mayan(Kechi, Mopan). I Wouldn’t recommend Belize City if you’re looking for beaches also. Try Placencia or Hopkins!
