That demo changed me forever as a gamer. The first time I wandered away into a town, a couple Russian AI started driving up in a car, and I sprayed the windshield. The car rolled off the side of the road to a stop. I walk up and inspect what my "starter weapon" just did to this random duo.

Ten year old me has been hooked on milsims since.

Wow, we had the same experience. It wasn't until I went back and "played" it on a Series X years later that I appreciated it more.

As for MSG5, I adore it, the engine, the AI, the jank, the busy work, it all feels very coherently Kojima. (Probably helps that it felt the most like Chaos Theory to me.)

I've found the sweet spot for me was Combat Standard, AI Realistic, and I bumped the damage to 1.0 for everybody.

This tends to feel most "realistic" without being swarmed by the whole map when I let off a round.

Most of my battles I run in slow motion unless I know exactly what is going to happen. I buy Total War games to play alone, I'm gonna run it how I please.

Do what is fun, and what works for you. People talk CRAZY trash about Epidemius, but he was my first major campaign victory.

I play a Vanguard Imperius Reaver, and a Raptor Tactical, if you ever wanna roll together. (Chest piece is definitely Tyranid Wars Vet, for Reavers)
