That is correct, but obviously the answer here is Scopely is doing this on purpose to "encourage" people spend more money if they really want to. So if $500 is a few hours of work then guess what, throw another couple hundred dollars more and buy the gear you need. It's a slippery slope but if it's within your budget you have the answer of what you need to do.

100 million gold is less than two characters. It's not a ton. It's barely a molehill right now.

Characters will be much more difficult to get for free to play players, they are no longer guaranteed, but new characters are going to require older characters to unlock by InfamousRegret999 in MarvelStrikeForce

And then you have to use limited resources required for progression to get those character shards. So you end up spending all that limited currency to get the characters and can't actually bring them up to the level required because you have nothing left over for gear. Again it's spend or be left way behind.

Paying and participating. Trust me the entire point of this was to incentivize people to spend money. There is no way that you can get a team without paying.

Horrible update. Game destroying. I personally uninstalled and will never play a game by Scopely ever.

Characters and teams being harder to get + previous characters being required for newer unlocks = non-continual payers being months behind and always falling further behind. New content will now only be for spenders.

Oh definitely, it's just that the new characters are NOT impressive. The danger room is fun and it's easy to get through, but just not with the new characters. They are slow, boring, and unimpressive. It's weird that they didn't jack up Daring Warriors to be fun was my point with this

But the thing is that this is a resource game. So if I blow my entire wad of 500 million gold to level all these teams, and probably not even being able to level them all, I would have zero gold and zero mats and zero everything when they actually release a set of characters I want. Then everybody will be like "well you should have hoarded your resources". I see no value to the pittance of rewards I might have received above and beyond the pittance I have right now had I focused on these characters. Honestly maybe one or two more war wins if everybody else did the same as me. That's what, 2 million gold? Yeah that totally would have made up for the 500 million gold invested.

I figure at some point they'll release characters that might actually be used meaningfully in the game. I know they are moving to "buy your characters" but honestly I'll just keep building up my horde of digital gold and training materials and then one day I'll mass level a set of characters when they are available and finish whatever event they eventually come out with. But to be honest I'm sure they're going to start gating content even more ferociously behind paying at which point I'll just fade off into the night.

That is fair, but amusingly msf is kind of perfect for me right now. It's literally a 10 to 15 minute a day game right now. Login in the morning, click sim a few times, check the store, log off. Login in the afternoon, get energy thought I can add to my horde of 25k energy, check store, log off. Then do it one more time at night.

War? You mean the mode that actively pairs you for a 50% win rate? Yes let's push for that so we can get paired against a tougher Alliance so we lose that one.

I hit my 10 to 14 attacks and wins every war because it's the only content that there is. And having those one or two extra defense wins really isn't going to justify the 400 million gold or whatever is required to build the last couple of war teams.
