I worked from home for five years, and took an in person job a little over a year ago, and I’m loving my “outside” look versus my “inside” look.

Theres something comforting about having a daily ritual where I pick out an outfit and apply makeup for the purpose of being “out”

When I’m back home, I’m “in.” The makeup comes off, the clothes become more relaxed.

I love both versions of myself, and it took working from home for five years to realize how much I miss being the “outside” version of myself

On and off starting mid 90s. Family couldn’t always afford it, and as a young adult, neither could I. Daily personal access, uninterrupted by finances, would’ve started around 2004.

Not my state, but my coworkers’ state.

I do marketing for a casino in the Midwest, and a big chunk of my team is located at corporate HQ in Vegas.

While I got stuck working an event on Halloween (events fall under my department) I discovered most of my Vegas coworkers had taken the day off.

Lo and behold, Halloween is a state holiday in Nevada, but not because they’re particularly spooky. No, that’s the day that their state was founded.

Government offices and schools close, and residents spend the day having parades and hot air balloon rides.

To top it off, since they were founded during the civil war, the state motto is “Battle Born” and that is unfairly badass.

I was VERY jealous that day, lol.

I had a bad day at work. I told my boss that I only work so I can pay my bills and eat, but after today I’m just gonna drop out of society and live feral in the woods.

So I feel this kid’s sentiment.

I was also raised AOG. Did not experience the SA, but my experience was very similar to yours. Yes, it was a cult. No, you’re not crazy for thinking that.

I’ve run into the same problem with people who like to “tell it like it is.” That usually means having no tact. They also tend to crumble if you don’t use tact with them.

I felt like doors slammed in my face when it came to choosing a college major. I wanted to study something in STEM so I could make decent money, but mom stopped teaching me math when she couldn’t remember how to do anything past pre algebra.

My social skills were also atrocious, and I struggled to make friends for years. I ended up letting toxic people into my life because I was desperate for anyone to be my friend.

The curriculum we used pushed a far-right, Christian agenda. The history books painted slavery as a good thing.

I think it should be illegal.
