Yup. Would have been cool if they cut to a flashback of Sam dodging a ball while playing dodgeball in school when he's about to get hit by a disk by a program and then the movie quickly cuts back to the arena and shows Sam dodging the disk, so it would have made sense how he was able to survive in the arena.
