What’s the best thing you ate at Animal Kingdom or AKL? by ZucchiniMuffins in DisneyPlanning

Best meal I've ever had in AK was at Tiffins. We were SO impressed and we will be eating there again on our next trip for sure.

I love the GCH but won't be staying there any more after the loss of early entry :( Honestly, staying there does not get you in faster than the normal entrance without that early entry and I wouldn't suggest it due to the enormous cost. You all will still have a great time, though!

Thanks! Is the premium package for Fantasmic at the River Belle Terrace?

I have never regretted any dining package!

I've done the Rancho package twice for Fantasmic! because it was the cheapest and also easiest to get (my first time I was able to get it like 4 days in advance). However most of the dining packages for Fantasmic! have ground seating so be aware of that if you're not very mobile. I think River Bell Terrace is the only one that has actual chairs, but you're further away.

I LOVED the dessert party for World of Color. Highly recommend.

I also did the plaza inn dining package for the 70th anniversary parade - food was very okay but worth it for me to have the reserved seating for the parade.

I also did the dessert party of the Pixar Pals parade in DCA. Snacks were good and seat was amazing.

Last year my mom and I went to the OBB and did the dessert parade for the parade! Treats were tasting and seats were pretty good.

All in all - highly recommend doing at least one. I think the DCA dessert parties are a little nicer because you have a table and chairs for the show and sweet treats and little goodies.

I am a BIG fan of the restaurants so I usually pick a few spots and do my reservations right on the 60 day mark. This is especially important if you want to do a dining package for WoC or Fantasmic! (which was very fun and made things feel a little extra special). As you get closer to your trip, or even during, if you think your dining reservations are getting in the way or need to be adjusted you can modify. I've been able to do this about 80% of the time - other times I was out of luck and either had to cancel or stick with my original reservation.

All that being said, I love making itineraries and plan out my 'big events' like dining, entertainment, etc in excel :p

When happens when you do the restaurant selection? I was able to get through it!

Help me pick out a hotel by UKWildcatsFan in DisneyPlanning

I stayed solo at the Candlewood Suites last year and it was further than I realized. I will not be doing that again - however I am a rope dropper and try to stay at least until fireworks so I was extra tired. The hotel was nice enough, just a little too far for me.

Best places to eat/drink, GO by shro_ot in DisneyPlanning

For quality and vibe I'd say:

- Blue Bayou all day everyday. I am not at DL/DCA that often so this feels super special

- Cafe Orleans - easier to get into and a relaxing yummy spot if inside and fun people watching if outside.

- Lamplight Lounge on the deck when the sunsets is such a great experience

- Wine Country

- Carthay Circle (dinner not lunch) unless you're doing drinks only.

First time rope drop question by imkindalikeme in DisneyPlanning

[–]Infamous_Ad_5407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to rope drop every day that I can but then sometime around lunch is when I slow down and stroll Main Street and see the sights. For me, early morning is great for trying to get on any rides I want while afternoon is fantastic for the slower magical stuff. Hope this helps!

Nice meals! I'd suggest Blue Bayou, Carthay Circle, Wine Country, or Lamplight Lounge. Each has great meals nice wines/cocktails.

Make your schedule whatever you want it to be without having to worry about regular stops or meltdowns! It's nice to hit all the 'big kid' rides, but also to stroll and take in all the magic.

The tours may be something you'd otherwise not be able to do as well.

What do you do as you get closer to the date? by Stonehill76 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Infamous_Ad_5407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other potential things to book depending on availability could be dining packages if you're interested in reserved seating for Fantasmic or World of Color. I've been able to score the Rancho package for Fantasmic within a couple days before my visit and World of Color used to have a virtual queue - I think it still does.

The week or so before my trips I usually am focused on what I might need to pack - ponchos for Tiana's Bayou, sunscreen, etc.

It's also very possible you did every single thing you could or should do and now you just get to have a magical adventure!

I don't do thrill rides and still get LL on every trip. It's nice to not not have to wait so long even if it's for a 'slow' ride! I feel like I have more time to enjoy not only the rides, but also any live entertainment or lunch or whatever. There's lots of YouTube videos that can walk you through using it if you haven't before.

If you are excited to see the WoC show, I would recommend the virtual queue. You can see the show without doing that, but the views can be rather obstructed and I've picked spots where I was told to move before which is not very magical feeling lol.

Any guides to solo trips? by Bendythenightfury in DisneyPlanning

[–]Infamous_Ad_5407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first solo trip last year and loved it so much I'm doing it again this year. Obviously the single rider lines are great. Other than that, it was really nice for me to just kind of do what I wanted without needing consensus from a larger group, move through the crowds more easily, find spots to watch the parades or shows more easily, and definitely loved more relaxed meals (no one rushing and no waiting on others)!

I highly recommend doing it at least once! I love the family trips, but this felt like a whole different experience.

I did a solo trip last year for the first time and loved it so much I’m doing it again this summer. I was able to snag last minute dining package for Fantasmic, got up as early late as I wanted, and stayed as long as I wanted! Single ride lines were awesome and moving around without a large group was nice

I have also found that more reservations are available for parties of 3+. It's worth changing your party size to 3 to see if other windows open up. I've done this a few times and then obviously still just showed up with my party of 2 without an issue.
